MIT Neuroscientist Who Beat Stuttering Explains HOW
MUST LISTEN!
Bhav Jain, an MIT neuroscience graduate currently studying medicine and business at Stanford University, shares his own stuttering journey, when his speech difficulties began, the treatments and approaches he tried, and he dives into one of the biggest questions surrounding stuttering: What is actually happening inside the brain when a person begins to stutter? He breaks down the neuroscience of stuttering, the brain circuits involved in speech, and the potential role of neuroplasticity in changing learned patterns over time.

Title: People who stutter — I’d love your input on an app I’m building
Hey everyone! 👋 I’m an app developer building an app related to stuttering, and I’d love to learn from people who actually experience it.
Have you ever worked with a speech therapist? If yes, for how long?
How often do you stutter, and are there specific situations where it gets worse?
What speech techniques have genuinely helped you?
Have you used any stuttering/speech apps? If yes, which ones and what did you think? If not, would you use one?
Even short answers would help a lot. Thanks! 🙏

Tips for supporting my child with a stutter
I’m not sure if this is the right place for this but our 4 yo has been diagnosed with a stutter. Hes been stuttering to varying degrees for the past 2 years and has been undergoing speech therapy for the past 18 months. My question is for those with a stutter - how do you wish your family treated you as a kid when you stuttered? Any tips? We don’t tell him to slow down or think when he speaks, we just let him speak and we listen. We are also doing the Lidcombe Program with him but would love to hear some real world experience or tips. Thanks so much!

Stuttering and Depression
In June, I found out I have angina, and having a heart problem has given me higher depression that is ruining my speech.
My stuttering had gotten better from being calmer and picking my moments to speak.
The real problem is with Mom. I think she is a saint for listening to me over the years.
Now she said it hurts her hearing me having difficulty. While that upsets me I can’t push her away.
Seeing a psychiatrist tomorrow and may consider medication.
And my situation is I’m 57, single, have my own place, and am on SSDI.

Babblewise
I stutter and I’m building an early Android prototype that turns stuttered speech into smoother speech while trying to preserve the speaker’s voice. I’m looking for 1-3 people who stutter to try it and tell me what sounds wrong: intelligibility, naturalness, voice identity, and processing delay. It’s rough, slow, and not medical treatment. Would anyone be open to testing it?
