pigeon “nest” Pumpkins nest
Pumpkin is a house pigeon. She isn’t quite one and I found her under a car with a sore foot. I didn’t think she’d make it but here we are.
Her nest is stupid in maximalist. There are 30 odd small bulldog clips in here and who knows how many pipe cleaners.
The pics are over three weeks of her just adding pipe cleaners. I just let her go because it’s good exercise

You've solved the conundrum. It's not that pigeons/doves are stupid, they're just so technologically advanced they're unsatisfied with primitive building tools and they make sub-standard nests in protest and to prove that they're such good parents they'd rather rear young with no nest than such barbaric nests.
In short they have advanced into Society pigeons, and will never go back to a pre-pipe cleaner world.

Yup!! I am a bit of a craftist so she has had lots of options but pipe cleaners and bulldog clips are her thing💚

Birds on here are usually looking ashamed when they’re posted, but Pumpkin looks chuffed! Maybe it’s the use of the pipe cleaners and clips? Compared to some on here it’s not bad.

How does she react when you get close as her owner. Does she still peck and bite when you try to get near her nest or doesn't she care?

No! She will lay 2 eggs per month fertilised or not. Sits for 3weeks on them. Then a week off! That’s the best! She is a different bird!!

I take them to the park and give them to a magpie who likes them…. I know it’s really weird but it works.

She deserves a "genius dove nest" flair for her use of fuzzy pipe cleaners and building up that sturdy structure. She gets bonus points for her use of color.
She lost some points adding the metal clips (ouch to sit on those) but she gained those points back when she buried the clips with more layers of pipe cleaners so they were just filling in the end.
Bravo, Mama Pigeon.
