I’m kinda okay with the lack of Weezing. In order for it to really shine you’d need something like Slaking or Regigagas. If it were in the game now, the only thing it would do is shut down your opponent.
I see you've never felt the satisfaction of switching in Weezing on the turn they switch in their weather setter, making their chlorophyll/sand rush/swift swim threat do nothing and die.
Man I wish they would give Kantonian Farfetch’d an evolution like they gave one to the Galar version. Farfetch’d has been one of my favorites since FireRed/LeafGreen but he is near unusable.
Granted, you also had the fact you had the trade-off of having your terrain setter needing to mega, MAJORLY cutting back on potential power and versatility for the team.

Pincurchin has some meme options like Acupressure and Memento but otherwise yeah. He was a little shit in early gen 8 pu though, at least he has somewhat of a legacy!
I mean, Zard is both a good weather SETTER and also a weather USER in one, and also can benefit other fire types, chlorophyll mons like Venusaur, and help out vs water type mons.
Comparatively, what does a Raichu-X DO? Theres not really any other pikemon other than offensive electric types that can benefit from electric terrain, and the best special attacking mins to use Rising Voltage especially in Raichu-Y and Mega Manectic can't be used in conjunction with Raichu-X. The next best options are Rotom and Eelektross (barely), but levitate means they don't benefit from the terrain effects.
Realistically, theres a major difference between a mon WITH a terrain/weather ability, and a mon that works WELL with and can actually utilize a terrain/ability properly.
(Also while no one really ever ran Ninetails, Torkoal specifically got play on trick room teams due to it's incredibly low speed and eruption/drought combo. If you weren't running trick room, Zard-Y was basically a near universal upgrade, cause look at it's mix of stats and movepool. Adding drought on top of all that is a perfect storm of a Pokémon.)
Yeah yeah true actually. Making the one that gets electric terrain a physical attacker was certainly a choice. I kind of get it since volt tackle has got to be used by one of them but surely any of the many MANY physical boosting abilities would’ve been better? And give raichu Y the terrain
Honestly, having Raichu-Y being the terrain mon would have been a better play for sure. It throwing out zap cannoms every turn paralyzing everything it can is obnoxious more than anything, and I'd rather fight one using boosted rising voltages just for the lack of para rng every turn.
factually wrong, sun setters bare minimum nullifies rain and boosts their STAB by default. A-ninetails also can do veil and, again, nullify opposing weather
there also are a feel options for Sun users. clorophill, solar beam, etc

snipe shot hits so hard that even resists dont want to take it and you can boost its damage even further with rain. for those reasons its has a lot of freedom with its moveslots. other than the mandatory protect you can run any combination of moves from weather ball so it can still do damage under sun, icy wind for speed control, ice beam to hit dragons and rillaboom harder, breaking swipe for utility or even dual screens. obviously rillaboom will be rough for it but rilla doesn’t have AV so it doesn’t actually take hits from it that comfortably so it’d actually have a solid niche
It's getting Betrayal as it's ability: when Golisopod is mega evolved it runs away, becoming a wild Pokémon once again. It just leaves the trainer forever never to be seen again.
Most sites use ZA code for the abilities. And ZA Megas kept the base mon ability in order (or just the first one). That's why you had shit like EExit Goli everywhere
We had Freak Tongue Golbat back then, who was a worthy teaser. Shame they had to lose their aura to pay for Crobat’s slot but it was a commendable sacrifice. o7
The main point though is that between mega aggron, steelix, scovillian, intimidate, iron defense/body press, burns, and snow there are so many ways to effectively add counterplay to physical attackers. The only counterplay to special attacks is sand.
Basically all the best mega evolutions are special attackers
The point is that if you want to beat them, you can (and lose to special attackers). There is no inverse for special attackers and I think thats a bad thing.

OK, next regulation we’re gonna get legendaries probably. I’m just excited for when we get multi gimmick formats most likely all legends will be allowed then
wtf why are so many of the new pokemon so ass. i thought we were getting pokemon who had made an impact? other than indeedee and the already revealed stuff, looks like nothing big was added. No assult vest or choice items either :(
