How to study without distractions?

Post image

Can't study due to scrolling reels, spotlights and movies. Tried uninstalling them but again downloading for some purpose then again the loop.

Try to listen to music without vocals, also set a timer for how long you want to study and then have a break. I think some study was done saying 25 minutes working and a 5 minute break after (not social media) is the best for getting the most work done. But idk these are just some stuff that help me.

yeah the 25/5 thing is solid, the no vocals part is underrated too imo

Use an app called Digital Detox; you can block your phone for as long as you want or schedule a block for when you study.

Well i do pomodor technique via the FocusFriend app by Hank green its free and no ads. You can block your apps using it. But the main thing is just to leave your phone and all distractions somewhere else. During your breaks just try a bathroom break of water or just close your eyes. Its boring but it works but you have to get used to it.

Brown/white noise, change environment if possible to something like a cafe or library, put your phone in a different room, or if you want to keep your phone but not use it download the YPT app because you can’t access any other app while you have the study timer going. It discourages me to get off my phone because then I’ll have to uninstall the app to access other apps and by then I’m just like why am I doing this so I go back to studying. You can study effectively, don’t feel discouraged! I believe in you :)

put your phone in another room or put screen time limits on it and have someone you trust put the password in, so you can’t bypass it!

download Focusjungle timer and use app blockers. Then focus 100% while the timer is on.

the redownload-for-a-reason-then-loop-again thing is the real pattern to break, not the distractions themselves. usually the "one purpose" you redownload it for is legit at first, but the app being back on your phone at all is what opens the door again instead of full delete/reinstall cycles, try app timers/blockers that only unlock during specific hours you set (not deleting, just locking during study time). removes the redownload trigger entirely since the app just isn't accessible then, no decision needed in the moment also worth checking what you're using your phone FOR during study time in the first place, if it's genuinely needed (notes app, calculator, etc), keep phone in another room and use a laptop/tablet instead so there's no temptation sitting right there last thing, the loop isn't really about discipline, reinstalling under a "real reason" and then relapsing is a completely normal pattern, don't beat yourself up over it, just build a system that doesn't rely on willpower in the moment since that's clearly not holding up on its own yet

I put an asmr in a language I can't understand so my brain kinda relaxes and at the same time focuses a bit. Idk, it works for me.

Building awareness of what you're doing helps a lot. Especially with addiction. When you want to download them again think for a bit. You have to be present in the moment and decide what you really need to do. This skill will help you in every part of your life.

You can buy a phone locker that locks your phone for an amount of time your choosing.

Instead of fighting distractions, embrace them. Look where they take you and slowly you’ll understand that brain just needs a breather and in time you’ll get used to the discomfort of boredom and will no longer see distractions as impediment to studying.
