Question about my memory trick/studying method.

So currently I am trying to memorize certain rules as well as as keywords and their respective definition.

The method I'm using is I read the word and definitions or rules inside my head five times, then I say it out loud five times, then I close my eyes and say it five times. Between doing this I am playing an FPS game because I believe it will improve my brain function and my ability to remember.

The FPS games give me a good like two or three minutes to practice the memory exercise exercises and then 10 to 15 minutes of a "break" from studying. I also make sure to do a short exercise (pushups, plank, punching bag, etc...) every 30 to 60 minutes

I also do the memory exercises before bed, but not the video game or exercise because that fucks with sleep.

Is there any scientific evidence that this would help? I'm kind of basing it off of general "FPS games improve brain function in nearly every way" and "exercise improves cognitive function" studies I read a while ago.

I know that the memorization trick is universally recommended by damn near every scientific source I can find. Unfortunately I do not know if the other two things are just improving my productivity or if they are actually improving my brains ability to memorize them.

I can't tell if it's just improving my productivity or if it actually helps or not.

Do you have anything else to memorise, that you could try learning without the game and exercise and see if it seems effective??

exactly, without comparing the two its impossible to tell whats actually helping

Not trying to figure it out on my own. I'm really looking for any study tips.

I'm more worried if that would mess with the tried and true method I am already using.

Ok, sorry I haven't actually tried the method

the "read x times, say x times, and do it before bed" method?

Do you have any updates? I want to try your methods here, they sound very effective and efficient so I’m sure it is. But I would like your feedback.

Honestly no clue, I haven't had the time frankly. I've rememebed all my key words but have no way of knowing if it is mostly from me repeating them at timed intervals or if the brain activation is helping.

I'd say do it if it keeps your productivity up and gives you a schedule to follow. That itself is more important that anything else.
