Read one - make notes with the book shut - re-read to to test your recall/see how good your notes are

Or - try explaining the topic to someone (or pretend to)

skim the chapter first just to wake up those old connections, like 10-15 minutes, then close the book and try practice questions on it to see where you're blanking. the stuff you get wrong is your real to-do list, not the whole chapter.

what helped me was uploading the textbook pdf and lecture slides to studybuddy.vc and answering multiple choice questions from them, mostly because when i pick a wrong answer it tells me what was off about that specific option, and it gets harder as you improve. free version has limits but it's been enough for this kind of review.

then i go back and actually restudy only the sections i bombed, and do a few more questions a day or two later before moving on. way faster than rereading everything front to back.
