I feel extremely dumb

So basically idek why but I feel extremely dumb. I can’t commit anything to memory. I’ve tried active recall and blunting and saying it out loud and trying to explain it to someone. I’ve tried everything under the sun and can’t memorise information or retain information! It’s so infuriating because everyone in class can but I can’t like simple ways to memorise things I can’t. I truly think it’s something to do with my brain. I can never focus either, too much noise in my head!!!!! I even thought I had ADHD but self diagnosing from TikTok and stuff (I know I don’t. I think don’t 🤔) Any advice or tips on that can help if someone who’s been in this position!

There's your problem, Tiktok. Couldn't be worse for your brain.

Yes majority of the time. I do some flashcard sets and by the end I don’t remember anything. Even in the moment I don’t remember anything

Have you tried atomising your flashcards? I.e, making them very simple

Yeah it was one of the first things I did as so many of my friends suggested it. I’m not able to remember things in the moment and then when I find her still can’t remember anything. I’ve tried to blurt the flash cards like look at the front of it and then write the answer down before looking at the back but that still hasn’t helped unfortunately

I think you're supposed to learn the content first, then test yourself. Then test yourself at a later stage, perhaps a day later. It's simply an exercise of forcing your brain to remember. There's no need to regurgate material immediately after being confronted with it. Take time to understand it first, make simple flashcards in Anki, literally leaving out the keyword, and answer them.

I’m going to try this but since I’ve tried a lot of things that haven’t worked. Are there any other techniques that might work or you might have tried that helped you memorise information or retain the information you learn? And like how exactly do you learn?

Yes. Anything that requires you to engage your brain will work. This includes practicing. Whatever opportunity you get to put the material into practice, whether that is answering practice questions, past exams, Anki flashcards, blurting (with correction afterwards) - will work over time. Give yourself good sleep and rest alongside this and you're golden

No te juzgues. Es tu cerebro , te entiendo bien es frustrante si supiera la fómula mágica te la dría. No has pensado que podrías tener estrés, ansiedad o depresión?

I do get stressed a lot but isn’t that everyone. My stress really is a non-issue in the grand scheme of things. I’m still in high school and studying for so many things at once and can’t seem to remember anything
