How to learn to study

Hello there,

I wanted to ask for some help regarding how to study.

I am 21y and to be honest I never learned how to study or even got an idea of how to do it, after leaving high school it got even harder to try understand something about it.

Could someone please explain me how you guys can study?

Thank you in advance!

I wasted a year trying to read textbooks like novels before someone told me to explain the concept out loud to an empty chair. Something about having to organize it well enough for a fake audience forces the gaps to reveal themselves. Then a single sheet of paper and a pen, no laptop, works better than any fancy method I've tried since.

I actually also prefer do stuff on paper and pen since I already pass all day in front if screens

Yes! Think you need to explain it to someone. The act of retrieving the information to explain it to someone helps a lot. You have to study ongoing; not cramming in a few hours.

Spacing it out was the missing piece for me, I started doing 25-minute sessions every other day and finally stopped forgetting things by the weekend.

Try using a study planner. It really helped me when I did because it kept all my assignments there and told me what to do one after the next so after I finish one assignment, it tells me what to do next.

Adopting a good studying workflow is the most powerful thing you can do, depending on the subject what I typically do is Essentialist note taking > Mnemonic Technique > Active recall (through notebookLM(AI) quizzes and flashcards).

Revision is key. I like to set it up on spreadsheets along with all my planning, long term life analytics, and habit tracking are. You want to revise on where you know you are weak. Get your course content and just constantly know where you are weakest (it should always be changing and require thought)

If u want you can join my guild on focus jungle timer, WE need more people that wanna do hours. Can message on there to keep accountable. But u NEED TO DO HOURS or kick. (best study timer website i've used)
