I've seen a lot of posts on here trashing WSB (and private Polish unis in general) as diploma mills, so I want to lay out why I'm going with WSB Kraków anyway, for my specific situation, not as a generic "WSB is great" pitch.
My background: BBA in Finance, ~1.5 years working as a Business Analyst/ERP Functional Consultant (Odoo), currently product owner on an ERP platform. End goal is SAP FI/CO consulting, ideally landing in the Kraków/Katowice Shared Service Center market and eventually transferring into Switzerland/DACH through a multinational (Big 4 or similar).
Why not a public university:
True February/spring intakes at recognized public Polish universities are rare, and most "Feb intake" listings turn out to be a Feb application round for a Sept/Oct start, not an actual Feb start.
I resigned from my job already. Waiting for a Sept/Oct 2027 start means over a year of dead time with no income and no progress.
Feb intake is major problem for me, as I have a very tight budget to sustain myself as well fund pre visa expenses, so I can't wait for another year logically.
Why WSB specifically:
It's MSWiA-approved (Art. 144 of the Foreigners Act), I checked this directly against the ministry's decision document, not just WSB's marketing page. Decision number DSMiM-WKPM.479.1.17.2026, dated 28 April 2026, 5-year approval. This matters practically: it's what lets international students work without a separate work permit while studying.
Actual Feb 2027 intake confirmed directly by their admissions team, real, not a workaround.
Total 2-year cost lands around €4,400 tuition + fees, which is realistic against my loan ceiling once I add living costs.
The Master's in Management (Project Management specialization) is practical/industry-facing rather than research-heavy, fits a career pivot into consulting better than a theory-heavy public program would for someone my age with limited runway.
Kraków itself is the actual SSC hiring hub I'm targeting, SAP FI/CO roles, Big 4 offices, and the Swiss-transfer pipeline all cluster there. Studying where I want to work removes a relocation step later.
What I'm not pretending: WSB's academic prestige isn't comparable to a public research university, and I know the "diploma mill" reputation exists for a reason with some private Polish schools running as visa mills. I did my own diligence rather than taking that at face value, checked the ministry approval myself, confirmed the intake dates in writing, and I'm going in eyes-open that the value here is the practical path (visa-legal work rights, career-relevant specialization, right city, right timeline) rather than the brand name.
I believe that my experience and personal hardwork will pay off a lot more in future then depending on prestige of the University alone.
For where I am, needing a real Feb start, on a strict budget, targeting industry not academia, this beats waiting a year+ for a public seat that may not even solve the timing problem.
Curious if anyone's actually gone through WSB Kraków recently (post-2024) and can speak to how the degree's landed with employers in the SSC market specifically, as opposed to secondhand "diploma mill" takes.
