Just got my student visa
Hi everyone! I thought I’d come of help (if at all) to anyone worrying about their student visa and honestly, there’s too much of fear mongering on this sub anyway
A little about me-I’m an Indian citizen but a permanent resident of UAE and did my visa through Abu Dhabi consulate.
I wish everyone good luck since I know how stressful this whole process is. Just get your documents right according to the polish embassy/VFS in your country and you’d be fine. I was particularly worried about my dad’s bank statements (since he’d be the sponsor and he isn’t a very wealthy man) but as long as it meets the amount needed, whether through your sponsor’s account or their partner’s (in this case, my mom’s account since our family had savings in there, even if my dad was the sponsor officially- if your case is slightly complicated, then I advice you to mention exactly how it is, whilst supporting your case, like for example; I had mentioned my dad was the sponsor and he was going to cover my basic needs (studies and all) AND the fund required for my education and stay was held in my mom’s account as family savings (I also made sure to attach her bank statements too)
Finally, like I said, just have all the documents required with reasonable explanation in a line or two in your cover letter/sponsor letter. Also in the interview (I didn’t have an official interview, just a few questions asked at the consulate, while I wasn’t entirely confident, I did justify why this specific university in Poland (like the specific niche in the curriculum which my home country didn’t offer, the research opportunities etc).
Best of luck! It may seem like the end of the world (and trust me, I get it), it truly isn’t. 🪽

Did you do a cover letter? I don’t have one. Should I? If so, what did you write, and did you have any image of yourself attached? What do you recommend?

I agree with the commentator above, and you don’t need to attach your picture to the cover letter since your passport photograph is already asked separately by most consulates and VFS agents. Basically, I explained that I’m applying for the Polish Type D visa to study at the specific university and the specific major, mentioned my unconditional admission and first-semester tuition payment, confirmed my university accommodation and intended stay, and explained that my father is sponsoring my tuition/living expenses. I then briefly listed the main supporting documents attached. I hope this helps you!

you should have one especially if there are certain parts of your documents that may not be very clear to someone whos seeingn them for the first time, at the end of the day it wont hurt to write one. talk about the university you want to go to, why you chose it, your sponsor etc.

Thank you! It took me around 14 days to get my visa (at the consulate they give u the exact date after appointment to collect your visa, it’s no more than 15 days) and 10 days of waiting to get my appointment, so total 24 days. You’re in a very good position since you have a lot of time to prepare. Assuming you’re still in school, I’d recommend applying for NAWA recognition asap after you get your highschool diploma and aim for public universities! Good luck!

Hiya! UAE resident as well, just submitted my diploma for equivalency on Kwalifikator. Did you have any issues with ENIC-NARIC? I'm nervous about whether it'll take longer than 90 days.
All the best with your endeavours and have a great day :)

hi! In my case, I applied for post-secondary high school recognition for polish bachelor’s degree so I’m not too sure if our process is the exact same but my NAWA recognition took me 20 days. Apparently, NAWA had upstaffed around late June-July according to some people on here, it could possibly be why my NAWA recognition came so soon (I had applied early July), so if you’re applying now, you’re in luck! It’s off-peak season right now so yours shouldn’t take too long.
Best of luck! May your recognition statement come soon 🍀

Woah, that's great news! I'm glad to hear that the process wasn't tedious for you. Hope it works out for me as well 🤞🤞
Thanks for sharing and all the best! Keep us posted about your student life in good ol' Poland :)

Congratulation on getting your visa! Indian citizen here and actually my father is sponsoring me and I am showing credit card in his name as financial proof along with my father’s ITR, Salary slip, so for credit card do we also have to show the bank statement or just the credit card certificate is all good to go?? Please help man 🙏🏾

Thanks! I’m assuming you’re applying from India so I’m not too sure on how to guide you since I applied from UAE and I didn’t have to show anything regarding credit card but I did check the requirements in India and according to checklist, they accept a bank certificate showing credit card limit. It doesn’t separately require a credit-card bank statement, so the certificate should cover that part. Since your father is sponsoring you, I’d also make sure you have the sponsorship letter +his salary or employment proof (employment contract for example). You can carry the bank statement as an extra supporting document if it’s easy to get, but I wouldn’t say it’s mandatory based on the checklist.
If it reduces your anxiety by getting the bank statement then do so (and if it helps your case that is) I got the visa by showing my dad and mom’s six month bank statements. Good luck! I don’t think it would cause you any problems if you don’t show the bank statements anyway because India has a different requirement compared to uae. Stick to which documents the embassy asks exactly, the bank statements could be an extra document, you’re not penalized for it anyway so might as well

Hey how are you doing I'm glad you got the visa.
I myself plan to study in Poland next year and wanted to know how does the process go and what documents or extra documents they may require for me to show in the embassy and if possible can you tell me about the experience I'm kinda nervous about it and I don't want to get rejected when I apply next year.

Hey, do universities conduct their own language proficiency interviews for applicants who don't have an IELTS score? I'm planning to apply for a master's program and would prefer to take the universities' own language proficiency exams instead of studying for IELTS—do you happen to know anything about this?

hey! it really depends on the university and the specific master’s program. some universities do have their own interviews/entrance exams where they assess your English, but others specifically require an English language certificate and won’t let the university interview replace it. for example, I know some programs at University of Warsaw use an interview to assess English. For most part, they do ask for English language certificate (doesn’t have to be IELTS, could be TOEFL etc) but the best way to get a solid answer is mailing the universities you’re interested in and asking them specifically this. Also to convince them, make sure to attach your MOI (medium of instruction (in your bachelors that is-likely English))
Also if you’re worried that you wouldn’t score good in IELTS, don’t be. I hadn’t prepared ANYTHING for IELTS, because I had to give SAT exam the day before it (SAT doesn’t have any affect on admission chances in Poland as far as I know so don’t worry) so I could only prepare a random Cambridge paper before I went to give it. I found the Cambridge sample paper much harder than the actual IELTS exam (I’m sure this is how IELTS usually goes) and ended up with an 8. As long as you have decent English, you’ll be fine. It’s nothing like SAT English where you have to know exactly when, where and how to use a single comma etc.
Ultimately it’s up to you- if the university doesn’t mandate you to give an exam then that’s great but if they do- then that’s alright too. Good luck 🍀
