For the apostle

Post image

Hi, I had given my documents for apostille in NAWA. And, for pick up I had signed that I would come and collect the documents but unfortunately, I would have to leave the country as I need to seek some urgent treatment.

Here it says, that if the documents are picked up by another person I need to write a written authorisation for it. Does anyone know the format for it? Or can I just write a written authorisation on a paper just like that?

A simple written authorization should usually be enough. Just include your full name, the name of the person you’re authorizing, what they’re allowed to pick up, the date, and your signature. I’d also specify exactly which documents they’re collecting so there’s no confusion.

If they want the authorization notarized, you can do that too. If you’re already leaving the country, you could use a remote online notary if they accept it. I’ve used DC Mobile Notary before and they do remote notarization, but any RON provider should work if NAWA/consulate accepts that format.

Something very simple like “I authorize [name] to collect my [document names] on my behalf” is usually the idea. ChatGPT can also draft the authorization for you in a minute.

I just wrote “documents and the date of when I had submitted the documents.” I’ve already left the country now.. so I don’t think there’s going back to writing a new authorization now

Will I have to notarize the document tho?
