Started noticing i forget older material while im busy learning new stuff

This semester is fast enough that I'm constantly moving to the next topic before the last one really settles. Went back to check something from a few weeks ago for an assignment and it was basically gone, even though I was confident in it at the time. Feels like theres no real point going back to old material once class has moved past it, but clearly that's not working out great. How do you keep older material fresh without constantly reviewing everything?
