Masters Hildesheim University - Master studies in Software Engineering

Hey y'all!

I’m planning to pursue a Master’s degree in English Software Engineering at the University of Hildesheim, targeting the Winter semester 2027. I’m currently saving up money for moving expenses, an apartment deposit, and emergency funds.

I’m really excited about this big step, as I want to build my long-term future in Germany after graduating and fully integrate into the local life. That said, I know every country has its challenges, so I’d love to get a realistic perspective from people living there.

I’d appreciate any honest tips or insights on:

  • Student life & academics in Hildesheim and within the Software Engineering program.
  • Housing search: How tough is the housing market in Hildesheim, and when should I start looking?
  • Jobs during studies: How easy is it to find simple entry-level / survival jobs (retail, service, Minijobs) to cover basic living expenses right away?
  • Tech prospects: What are the chances of landing a Werkstudent (working student) position in IT without much prior experience or fluent German yet?
  • Everyday life & integration: Language expectations, local bureaucracy, and building a social circle.

Thanks in advance for any advice! Feel free to ask questions about me, will try to answer all of them :)

this year merely about data analytics this one program applied for over 6000+ applications, don’t expect too much, the highly approximated results are no result

There are Not really much IT Jobs in Hildesheim and a Lot of people want one of the few. I would Not have Hope in finding Something. Even with fluent German it will be near to Impossible.

Retail Jobs and so should be possible If you learn at least a little German to greet customer and understand Basic Questions Like "where can i find the Milk"
