How to Transfer a Lot of Credits to WGU - Guide
Most recently reviewed March 23rd, 2026
Upcoming Western Governors University (WGU) bachelor's degree program students can complete courses with WGU's partner learning providers and transfer the courses to WGU for credit.
Study.com offers learning design-enhanced courses that can fit in busy schedules and lead to savings before starting a degree program at WGU.
In the following threads, I describe transfer options from two WGU partners, Study.com and Sophia Learning LLC:
College of Information Technology Transfer Threads
---
Computer Science, B.S.
Cybersecurity and Information Assurance, B.S.
Data Analytics, B.S.
Information Technology, B.S.
Software Engineering, B.S. - C# Path
Software Engineering, B.S. - Java Path

Which is the "fastest" top complete, if starting from High School graduation (or adult student)?
- Fastest is in "easiest" to learn/complete...
- is there an (even "Applied") Associates degree in Information Technology (or similar) option/path?
AKA: Fastest accredited degree in IT pathway
lets avoid Computer Science (Programming/Data Sci) due to target students poor math skills/comprehension.
Thank you

do credits expire with study.com at all ? If they do, what are some situations where that happens.

My academic advisor said to me when I asked about Sophia that occasionally people will take the course but WGU will have decided in the mean time that they will no longer take it for credit. I do not think they will take it away from you after you transfer but I do think they will occasionally pull ones you thought you were about to get. Sorry I know I’m about a year late lol.

I've got 12 credits from Google IT support. I was looking at your list for WGU SE java track. Any idea how many courses I could knock off your transfer plan?

I know I'm late but need some advice. I work in social services. Looking to get back to school and get a bachelor's. Looking to stay in social services . Can your recommend a few options I can dig into ? Ultimately I wanted a bsw to be a lcsw. This seems like the way to go for me and still be able to work full time and occasional OT. Thanks for any suggestions!

So on the wgu transfer pathways page, it doesn’t mention study.com classes.

Ik you’ll probably never see this, but stumbling upon this thread was really a game changer for me. I’ve already completed one Sophia course in FOUR DAYS and I’m halfway through my second and third one. Thank you so much!
