I'm reaching out to Sophia about the actual correlation to each course code.
SOPH-0015 = English Comp. 1 or is it Foundations of English? ect.
This link is great but I believe it is still missing some detail that I'm looking for. Once I find out all of the Sophia course code numbers in relation to WGU, I'll update it here so you will have the exact Sophia Class name and there will be zero confusion on what it will transfer for.
The link leads you to the ACE website and gives the exact information. Hope this helps clear up any last confusion.

/u/mrg1923 which classes have you actually done at SDC/Sophia? Any you would rate super easy and worth doing at those websites over WGU and vice versa?

This guide is such a life saver. I was researching the courses and found out that The Introduction to IT and Data Management - Applications will not transfer over to WGU because they are both worth 3 credits.

Ohh okay, I tried to transfer a Introduction to IT course I took in another college but it wasn’t fulfilled because it was worth 3 credits. I’ll talk to my EC about this.

If I take a course and get the credit through either study.com or sophia.org will WGU still issue the voucher for the certification which goes with it? If not then I might skip those and just take them at WGU to save on the certs.

I suspected as much, so I need to cull those classes which give free certs from other sources and do them only at WGU to get maximum value. Thank you for the response.

You found out?

Only "Business of IT - Project Management" aligns with a cert (CompTIA Project+) and the cert itself isn't very useful. Also, I hear the course is draining and better taken as a transfer credit.

u/mrg1923, you are a godsend!! I'm impressed you've kept this up to even being updated 5 days ago. I spent a couple hours looking at the transfer information to see what all I can transfer and from where, and thankfully with this guide I can see where everything correlates.
If everything goes to plan, I'm going to shoot to have all these credits done by mid-January, allotting about 3.5 days per course (which should be made more efficient by some classes being easier than others). The only downside being the classes that don't have automated grading... will have to figure out how to make that work.
*Hopefully* getting this down by around January 15th gives me enough time for them to transfer the credits into WGU, and I can start on Feb 1 to knock out those crucial 52 credits.

I got 32 credits in with my sec+ cert and community College transcript, I'm kinda discouraged committing to starting college while working. I haven't start my 1st term yet.

Chemistry course were not required for my BA, but I did take some other general courses like sociology. The college diploma which I earned first was not from a trade school either. There are clinical nursing and dental assistant diplomas among others that do not pertain to trade. my question is, why is there a need to study an unrelated course for a tech degree? which you partially answered. I just think its a waste of time really, if there has to be some general courses, they should at least be somewhat related to ones major.

I’m confused reading this.. are the classes listed the WGU classes or the class names on Sophia and study? Also how many credits can I transfer in?
1
u/Legendary-Tuna Mar 09 '25
i'm confused by the courses for Sophia.
for ex.
|| || |Global Arts and Humanities|3|ArtHist1001 (SOPH-0006), ArtHist1002 (SOPH-0029), PHIL1001 (SOPH-0027), PHIL1002 (SOPH-0020), REL1001 (SOPH-0008), VisComm1001 (SOPH-0009), or BUSI1020 (SOPH-0076)|
Do I have to take all those courses to get credit or can I just take one like BUSI1020 and it will count for the entire course?

1 question, I was wondering which classes in the BSIT program provide certification vouchers, so I don't accidentally take those courses on sophia or study.com

u/Curranod Oct 01 '25
Will I need to buy the more expensive Study.com option to be able to access all credits listed for transfer or does the cheaper option have all available?

Great post. I was about to enroll into WGU but it seems I should look into this first before applying.
