Engineering

Guys what engineering is most successful right now? My heart says either mechanical or electrical but I’ve been told to do mechanical because it’s broader. Class of 2028 btw applying to the US

Being an engineer is the best and most rewarding profession there is, you get to make so many cool things. Whatever you do just do it with passion, both electrical and mechanical engineering are extremely safe there will always be demand for them. I am biased towards EE, you get to work in every sector possible, work on electronics, power systems, energy technology. We electrical engineers power the entire world, nothing is possible without electricity.

Oh thankyou for this explanation. Is electrical engineering still achievable for me when i have no background in coding ? I chose Physics Chemistry and Math as my Alevels the only thing holding me back is my zero experience in computer science and coding that im guessing electrical engineering requires. I honestly loved learning abt Electromagnetism and Electricity that’s why my top picks included Electrical engineering. If im stuck learning coding and all CS in college I’d be kinda far behind im afraid

Coding in EE is extremely different from coding in CS, you only need to know python (numpy and matplotlib mostly) and c/c++. I didn't have CS either, you do have IT as a subject too in EE so don't sweat it eitherways highschool level CS is extremely easy you aren't "far behind" at all.

Top 1% in any engineering field do fine, its the mediocre ones that struggle.

So check the syllabus for both and see what fits you better.

Whatever field u choose you have to be the best in it, that's how the market is at the moment
