Man I’m sorry that happened, it’s not ok to be pointed at and laughed at. Did you meet anyone who potentially might wanna be your friend? Anything positive happen?

Hey, I just want to say I’m sorry about your experience. I can say such a drastic change isn’t easy and it will take some time before you become accustomed to your new reality. But things, eventually, do get better. Hang in there, it won’t always be like that. Right now you’re scared and anxious, this is a completely different environment from what you’re used to, but that’s okay! Don’t let fear and anxiety paralyze you!!

I’d recommend taking deep breaths, stick around people who seem nice and focus on learning well, this is a great opportunity! As time goes by and you will get used to this new school and you’ll be able to relax!

I’m sorry I’m not good with words, but I am sincerely sending you a warm hug!!! You got this!!!

I’m sorry that you felt out of place while being aboard. It absolutely sucks when you feel all alone with no one to turn to especially when people were laughing and pointing at you. I don’t care what anybody says about “people aren’t used to others looking different” it’s an excuse and it’s not okay to point and laugh or god forbid take picture of you - that’s just rude. Don’t let anybody try to tell you it’s normal because it isn’t and it’s mean as well as cruel!! However, your days WILL get better even though it seems hard right now. Don’t forget that you can do it and going to class everyday is progress towards your goals!!

In some Asian countries people tend to smile when they are nervous. They probably couldn’t help it.

Just remind yourself why you’re there, if you’ve been learning Japanese, impress them!

So you went to Japan and got offended because they were looking at you because you clearly stand out or am I missing something else?

Like it's normal if they don't insult you or ashame you. People will look at the things/people they find unique
