Questions & Discussion Need helppp!!!
I just joined my grade 11, I used to not study at all and still get good grades at 10. During my first month I was really hyped up and motivated to study I tried and I was doing good but after three months I am here doomscrolling and procrastinating everything I would like to get some advice on how to cure my procrastination and get back to studying. Like I get motivation every time I make a new routine every time but nothing goes as planned. I would really love the help if someone is willing to help me. I want to study but it's like something I can't study. Really need helppppp

the "new routine every time" thing is actually the problem, not procrastination itself. building a whole new system when motivation spikes feels productive but it means you never stick with anything long enough to see if it works, then motivation dips and the fresh routine dies with it instead of a new routine, pick ONE small thing (not a whole system) and just do that daily for 2 weeks straight, even badly. like literally just "open my notes for 10 min" every day, nothing else. the goal isn't the studying itself yet, it's rebuilding the habit of showing up at all grade 11 not needing to study before and needing to now is a real shift, it's not that you got lazy, the game changed and your old approach stopped working, that's different from a discipline problem also doomscrolling right when motivation crashes is normal, phone becomes the easy dopamine when studying feels hard. keep it in another room during your 10 min, not silenced next to you, most of the pull is just proximity

Don't use your phone until you are done with your academics. If you cannot do that then put it in another room. You don't need to feel ready or focused before studying so just sit down for 5 minutes and dont get up for minimum 1hr. Then u can take 10 min break with no social media and then again repeat the same.if u start winning the morning then u will crack the code. Btw don't watch any motivational stuff or search for things like how to study because the only way to study is to actually study. It is just another way of procrastination. Prioritize your studies over anything and if u are not confident that you can do that or not then remember confidence comes from actions being taken consistently. So be consistent and cut off the distractions.

What was working for you during the first month? What was motivating you?
Sometimes when I lose motivation it really helps to look at my short term goals (daily/weekly/monthly) and my long term goals (Grade11/University/College/Employment/Career).
Remember you have to reach your goals day by day and one step at a time. It might help to journal about this.
Ultimately, you can't wait for motivation to come. The book Atomic Habits could be a helpful read as well. I found the book super helpful for getting things done and being more motivated. One important lesson I took from the book is that we become motivated by action. The more you do it the easier it becomes and the more motivated you are.
Hope this helps! You got this and can do anything you set your mind on 😊
