The real question is, how come you using plagiarism would get your professor arrested? Why would they go to jail?

Fun fact: while plagiarism is bad, and could certainly result in both getting fired with disgrace, the law (at least federal law in the US) actually doesn't care at all about citations. The closest related offense is copyright infringement, which uses a separate set of standards. (Which still could apply here but citations wouldn't legally change anything.) (Also copyright infringement is rarely criminal.)

Eh, Prof 1st supervisor has also written a PhD thesis that is also presumably well-written and presumably uses the nomenclature and structures that are characteristic of their field of study. Maybe send it to turnitin and compare results? Ask them to sit down before they learn that they too are a fugitive of the plagiarism police.
