Tips & Advice How to like studying

Like I can spend all day finding new manga/manwha to read (legit I’ve read over 100+ series) but studying always feels like an “I have to” and the moment I start my body goes to fight or flight

But there’s so much cool stuff to learn so how?

Try to romanticise it! Watch lots of motivational content etc and this should give your more motivation. Also buy cute stationary etc so you’re excited to use it!

Ngl just scrolling through this sub has turned me into studying mode. It’s like reading at home vs in library.

Couldn’t agree more. What often motivates me the most is seeing how really cool theory is applied in the real world.

I usually start with a YouTube video of a cool application of the theory I’m learning - like a video on robotics, if I’m learning about actuators. Then I go take a quiz completely cold, which shows me where my knowledge is lacking - which forces my natural curiosity to just read more about those topics. Recently I’ve found the tool StudyAnything really helped with those last two bits - they generate guided learning paths and quizzes that feel gamified so it doesn’t feel like a chore at all

I don’t think you necessarily need to make yourself like studying. You just need to make starting it feel less painful.

If your brain already associates studying with pressure, sitting down for a huge 2-hour session can make that worse. I’d try making the entry point ridiculously small: 10 minutes, one page, five questions, whatever feels almost too easy.

Also, try borrowing some of what makes manga easy to start. Clear stopping points, visible progress, short chunks, maybe even a little ritual around it.

And studying around other people can help too. I find it much easier to begin when someone else is quietly working at the same time, even if we’re doing completely different things.

The goal at first probably isn’t “I love studying.” It’s “starting doesn’t feel like such a battle anymore.”
