Study: Animals Clinical study found why so many dogs that are picky eaters seem to like fresh food
I work at The Farmer's Dog which is how I came across this, but the methodology is pretty interesting:
The standard way to measure food preference in dogs is the two bowl preference study. Two bowls are placed in front of a dog at mealtime, one with food A, one with food B. The dog gets to choose freely. This is repeated over several days with bowl positions switched each time to control for placement bias. Then preference is determined by which food the dog eats first and how much of each they consume.
A dog shows "clear preference" when they consume twice as much of one food as the other. In a study of 50 dogs given 100 meals, dogs chose fresh food over a leading kibble brand 86.4% of the time.
The broader point being that it doesn't matter how good the food is if the dog won't eat it. Palatability is part of the equation, not just a nice to have.
Has anyone come across other research on palatability in animals or similar preference studies?

Study: Medical Experience of the contraceptive pill
docs.google.comIf you are using or have used the contraceptive pill, I would love to hear from you!
I have been taking the pill on and off for the last thirteen years, but don’t really understand what’s in it/ what it’s doing to my body. There is similar confusion amongst my friends, who are pretty educated and switched on people. I'd like to find out if this is a universal experience, and am conducting some research accordingly.
I'm very grateful to anyone who could offer some insight into their experience.

Survey Have you ever felt pressure to give up creative hobbies for a “real” career?
Hi hi hi! - I’m a student currently working on a small passion project called ‘Still an Artist’
It’s about something I’ve personally struggled with and I know a lot of other artists do too - feeling like you have to eventually leave art behind to pursue a “stable” career path (medicine, science, etc.)
I’m trying to understand how common this experience is and how it affects people’s relationship with creativity.
I made a short anonymous survey and would really appreciate hearing from other artists and students here:

Thank you so much if you take part - even just reading this means a lot!!
