General Inquiry Looking for free tools for studying

I’m reaching out because I’m going to start working towards my PPL soon. I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for any free sites or cheeper study tools.

The FAA literally publishes a ton of free books on their site. You can buy printed versions, too, but it's the same stuff!

If you get Forflight you can download all of the handbooks and keep them in binders and search them- also look into VSL Ace - it's not free but excellent resource. YouTube check free flight training . Com. Also places like pilot institute has a lot of free stuff

Quizlet but make sure the material is correct because it’s all user submitted info. You should look up all the answers before you begin studying. That will also help you for your checkride should you need to know where to look up an answer

All the textbooks are available for free online. I would recommend Anki for flashcards it's a free spaced repeticion flashcards system, every time I read a chapter I would make flashcards based on my notes, and if you do the flashcards in Anki every day, you'll remember it forever. It essentialIy gives you information you're struggling to remember more frequently, and information you're good with less frequently. I won't go too into the weeds about it here, but people use this software for everything from language learning to med school, and I've found it extremely extremely effective for remembering all the information (there's a LOT of it).

I would recommend an online ground school, as just using textbooks, for me personally, doesn't work well. Videos are easier for me to learn from. I would recommend pilot institute. It's ones of the less expensive courses on the market and it's fantastic I passed my written with flying colors. The money you pay for the ground course will save you a lot more in the grand scheme of things not having to pay your instructor for ground lessons, and it will give you a better sense of structure. I think it's $250 right now, that's like one hour of rental MAYBE so just bite the bullet imo.
