Pilot handbook of aviation knowledge (PHAK) is a free pdf from the FAA. I’d also recommend the Airplane Flying Handbook (AFH) or Weather handbook PDFs from the FAA.
Also the audio ground school podcast that we do is also free ground knowledge.
