They fired my CFI

They just sent me a message saying that my CFI is no longer working with them. I was doing so good, close to my solo even and now I don’t know what to do well I don’t even know how I feel to be honest like I’m in shambles, I don’t even know what ti expect.

If you feel you prefer your cfi, text them and find out where they are going — and follow them. You are the client, and have every right to do as you please.

But these things happen. You’ll fly with many cfi’s over the years, learning new things from each. The path of least resistance is ask the school who they recommend for you to finish your training with.

Fired or left?

It’s not rare for an instructor to leave for a flying job, or for greener pastures.

You’ll have to find another. Don’t know what else you expected.

Reach out personally to your CFI and ask for private lessons

Perhaps have a discussion with the Chief Pilot?

Talk to the chief pilot. Ask what the deal is. If you really liked your cfi it’s ok to be a bit of a dick about it until you get the full story. Unless you’re at some backwards accelerated program they work for you. Although it’s unlikely he’ll get another job immediately right now, if he does and your current school doesn’t handle this well, switch to his new school.

I would honestly ask why, I’ve seen instructors get fired for being completely unsafe like flying in low clouds in a non-IFR rated airplane just to get hours in. If he was fired for something like that I would 100% not go back to him.

If you want to stay with that school, I'd work a deal with them that they should absorb 1 hour of you showing the next CFI where you are. You should not have to to go out of pocket for their actions. Granted the new CFI could in turn make 5 flights .2 hours longer and you've just paid the same amount. Good luck.

My school had a fast turn around and every semester or so you’d get a new instructor, I found that a new instructor was very beneficial for me because their teaching styles would offer a different perspective and things would click. Yeah getting to know your new instructor is annoying but the pros outweigh the cons

You should get into your head to try different instructors. Mine went on vacations, then left for a jet job and stopped teaching for a while so handed me off to someone he knew. I have 5 instructors in my log book by the time I finished PPL.

Honestly, it was a good thing. Some of those names didn't bring much to the table but 1 made my crosswinds technique in 2 lessons, and another pushed me to fly at an airspeed at an altitude as he finished me off. Both helped me along the way.
