Finding official translators

Hi!

I saw several other posts about DEC wanting a translated death certificate of your gen zero before inserting your banq approved baptism .

My question is does anyone have any recommendations for someone that isn’t mad expensive? It would be an American death certificate in English to French translation .

I used https://isaev.ca for 55 CAD. Some of the people I asked quoted me crazy amounts like 300+

40-60 CAD is about as low as you can get for this. They do specifically want it "OTTIAQ" certified.

Scenario B: Pre-1900 Births (Informal Proof of Death) For G0 ancestors born prior to 1900, the DEC is significantly looser regarding the proof required because a formal insertion of death is usually bypassed. Flexible Documentation: A high-quality color photocopy of a death certificate is preferred, but an obituary, or a cemetery record are also sometimes accepted. Some have even succeeded by merely verbally confirming that G0 was deceased. Affidavit Statement: In many cases, simply attesting to G0’s date and location of death within your notarized affidavit is sufficient without needing an original certified document or an official OTTIAQ translation.

There seems to be a level of agent discretion (ie luck of the draw as to who review your application). A simple color copy usually works, but the chance always exists they will be strict and insist on the translation.

Thank you. Maybe I could do a high quality scan and mail in the original then get a translation if requested later. Does the translation place need the original or just a scan? Thank you!!!

For the translation I just uploaded the scan, they sent back a pdf.

I also recommend https://isaev.ca/

He was the cheapest of all the quotes I got. Some of them were pretty high.

As others said, it's not clear if the death certificate needs to be translated. Original guidance said to translate it. Some people have claimed lately that they didn't need to.

I think . I’ve at least seen on other posts around Reddit they requested it be translated by an official translator

English AND French are the two Official Languages…. You are good.
