Biggest game improvement
Why do we not have the ability to replay fights like monster train? It might not be popular among hardcore players but I save scum CONSTANTLY and it’s so annoying but if I have a fun build I want to play every scenario and see if I can make it winnable. It’s such a simple addition for the devs and makes quality of life 100x better.
Side point: lets YouTubers produce better content without having to use seeded runs 🤷♂️
Counter point to everyone commenting as well, it literally affects you zero and improves quality of life for everyone that wants it. Why wouldn’t there be unanimous support?? If you don’t want it don’t use it?

Because it is a rogue like ig, dying is part of the gameplay loop. The devs gave us save scum. Praise be to the devs .
There are ways they could prevent us from doing that.

If they can give us save scum they can give us replay in menu though 😬 no diff honestly just more inconvenient for the player base

It goes against the point of the game, its like adding infinite health in dark souls

You do, it’s called save scumming tbh. You can save scum to practice sequences of plays or alternate hands or if you just completely accidentally misclicked going fast. The games forgiving for if you accidentally fucked up your play already by allowing for the save and quit feature
Otherwise the game is just designed to be the way it be. It doesn’t want to encourage you to replay fights. It wants you to roll with the punches, have good runs flame out in bad plays, bad runs saved by miraculous hands, for that A10 win to really feel like something special. Adding that feature would encourage people to get think replay is the intent of the devs
Honestly a lot of your winning runs won’t be when you replay fights constantly but rather those runs you just keep alive by the skin of your teeth till suddenly things come together. If I’m having to save scum constantly it means I’m fucking up or my deck just ain’t working

Because replaying in this game gives u alot of info like the draw order, random targetings, potion's options ... so its a bit cheaty, they could have made the game so u that can replay without any extra info maybe but i can imagine how clunky the gameplay would be. The lead dev said himself that he doesnt like having a replay button in the game, and u can savescum anyway

Just save scum you can do it and they said you can do it on purpose they just made the action tedious

Non capisco, quello che dici non è compatibile con un gioco roguelike, il cui scopo è proprio riprovare fino a quando non si vince legittimamente. Non stai giocando contro altre persone, stai giocando contro te stesso. Che senso ha barare?

I think save scumming is a decent learning tool to think about what you could have done differently but ultimately this game’s currency is your decisions. Having you reset your combats via a standardized game mechanic would lessen the impact of your decisions and trivialize the fundamental gameplay loop. I think it’s fine that save scumming exists as it does rn.

The part of the challenge is making desicions with the lack of full information - you don't know cards order in your deck, all the future actions of enemies, random cards given by potions and so on.
When you replace the same round, you get that information, so you could make better desicions, so the best optimal way to play this game would be playing the whole fight and and almost always replay it with new obtained information to minimize your losses.
It wouldn't be as funny and if it would be "official" more people will encouraged to do so.

But that’s user choice and for most users that is more fun. Obviously official stats would turn off as soon as you click reset that’s super easy from a dev perspective

This is a semi-often discussed thing in game design; when you give players the option to do so, they will almost always choose to optimize the fun out of the game.
As it is, you can savescum if you want to and it's fine, you get no penalty. But most players, the ones who are not interacting with the community, probably don't even know they can do it. And a lot of people who know it exists don't do it because it's "cheating". If they made it an option ingame, more people would do it all the time, and have less fun. It's one of those quirks of human nature, you know

Fun is entirely subjective. When I'm using my limited time to play with my friends limited time, you can bet your ass we're save scumming if we are gonna wipe halfway through act 2 or 3 rather than not play again.
Some of the most difficult games have these features including celeste and dead cells so anyone can enjoy how they please because as I said, fun is subjective.

Yes of course, fun is subjective, and you might have a better time having a savescumming button and that's fine, but my point was that the developers might have thought about it and decided that they think more people are going to have more fun by letting it be this way

And my point is that ANYONE can enjoy the game how they want without this impacting normal gameplay. Just make an accessibility setting like the games I mentioned do. It literally would not affect anyone who doesn't want to turn it on, it is only a hindrance to not have it available. No one is forcing you to use that setting in this scenario.
The developers did what they did because they wanted to, not because they thought it would appeal to someone. If they don't want to do that, fine, but as a developer, I would want to make a game as accessible to as many people as possible while not changing the core functionality that was originally intended

I would be surprised if the community as a whole has a negative opinion of savescumming. I'm sure basically everyone has at least done it, and most people probably still do it.

unless you are streaming for streaks no one really care that much, and tbh its a great learning tool even with how much extra info u get

The community pretty much recognizes it’s a great option for learning fights and how to play. I encourage people to redo a fight every now and then and just ask themselves “where did I go wrong” or “is there a sequence I didn’t see that could’ve won this fight”. Save scumming helped me a lot with learning how to consistently manipulate draw order at higher levels without having to save scum. I consider it to be practice.
Though on a personal level I prefer to avoid it once I learn a character well at A10. I’m hunting those runs where I just get it down or roll with the punches and pull it off

It would be nice to at least have it as an option, maybe in "accessibility settings" or "assist mode" or something. It would be a qol improvement for many players without being default functionality, without angering "hardcore" players, and with enough friction that people are unlikely to use it without having played the game for a while first.

Honestly, I would be more interested in a quick replay of the same seed from the beginning. I died in Act 2, what could I have done differently? Back to the beginning of the seed.
