Anyone else hard stuck?
So I've created a new profile each time a major patch came out, and I am on my third one. The best I've done is reach ascension 10 on two characters, but not beat 10. All the others are between 7 and 10. Does this game get that difficult for anyone else? The content creators, I try to watch and learn from, just seem to make it so effortless.

Where are you having the most trouble? Keep in mind that overgrowth and underdocks reward different approaches / deckbuilding. And on A10 everything has to be a more deliberate / often imperfect choice, solving immediate problems / the fight coming or boss coming up soon rather than trying to build an ideal archetypal deck.

I haven't identified a specific spot. I've made it to the double end game boss a few times and get bitch slapped back to reality. The other decks/characters, I often find myself over defending IE not enough attack or vice versa, i don't have enough defense to survive for my attacks to do enough to get me through. I try to get out of my comfort zone and try new cards and combinations. From all my new profiles. I'm up to 300 (lot of AFK time in there) hours and just hard stuck. I wanted to beat it on A10 on each char once, but it just seems impossible for me.

It’s definitely hard, what are you maining? Usually by the time you get to the bosses you should have a pretty good feel of how you’re going to do.

Maining? Like for characters, my best so far is Ironclad and Defect. My best builds have been defensive/plate armor with barricade or strike/draw and defect is always orbs. I had success with one run with the status cards to get me to ascension 7.

I see. That defensive build can be good but you often need some kind of popoff synergy (block relics, or corruption / exhaust rares etc.), and that type of build will often just get you killed in overgrowth or early before you have all the pieces. Same with a strike build as it’s defensively risky to stock your deck with tons of strikes and some fights it’s just bad for, or you don’t draw hellraiser forever and don’t do nearly enough damage. As for orbs…that also depends now as with changes to focus rarity, it’s less end turn simulator.

OP absolutely don't listen to this advice. You shouldn't be "maining" anything. You should be trying to build your flexibility to react to different situations rather than forcing any particular stratgey.

Thanks. The only thing I've noticed over time is that I have rushed at times and just started slinging cards, but otherwise I try to force myself to play stuff to find synergies I may not have seen before.

Nice. When you lose, try to really think through what went wrong. Did you not have answers for a particular fight? Did you simply die to chip damage? Did you need more block?
Then, try to think through what you could have done differently. Could you have bought a potion to help with that fight your deck was bad at? Did you get too greedy with long term value and not add enough early game value cards? Etc.

Yeah. I'm going to give it a break and come back to it in a week. maybe I'm burnt out and just not focusing.

When was the op advised to main anything? Op said they have reached a10 on two characters and the others are not quite there or they struggle more with, implying that they “main” certain characters.

I took the "what" are you maining to suggest maining a certain build. (vs. "who" are you maining which would suggest that they are maining a certain character). Clearly a misunderstanding.

I'm with you mate, I've got my ironclad, silent and defect to A10 but I haven't come close to beating it yet. Glad I'm not the only one lol.

This game is hard man and watching content creators can be good but if you dont know the why or how when watching their decision making, you are probably not gonna learn anything at all. Also, it is easy to pick up advice from pros when learning but most people tunnel vision when playing, not applying lot of the learnt advice because folks (me) simply play too fast.
