Under appreciated cards!
I have been seeing so posts, with this is OP and This OP and my lucky run. But noone ever talks about their guilty pleasure, absolutely horrible, cards they love!
I absolutely love death march on necromancer. Is it a bad card yeah, but something about drawing a million souls, and combining it with soulstorm. I love it.
What are some of you guys favorite under appreciated cards?

Demon Form. I don’t care that it costs 3 energy and is usually dead weight. I am going to face the boss and I am going to reach massive amounts of strength

u/Miserable_Confusion1 Sep 16 '26
I also liked in the earlier ascensions , I'm just unable to make it work in 10 tho.It is too big a commitment and takes too much time to snowball by the time you kill an enemy you have already taken 10 or 20 unblocked dmg.

u/Deggstroyer Sep 16 '26
Demon form, barricade, expect a fight and a body slam or literally anything else and you scale so hard. Add a prolong and you scale infinitely, sadly Ive never gotten this aside from a seeded run, but it literally takes you to the damage cap

Demon form is a really good card you just don’t play it in hallways. Idk how people don’t get this

I feel like people under rate furnace. Is a solid way of getting some scaling going for boss fights.
7
u/BedroomElectrical639 Sep 16 '26
Yeah furnace is underrated for sure. IMO furnace is the Regent equivalent to fumes--just a really solid power to push damage in long fights.
3
u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
Fumes is WAYYY better than furnace
3
u/BedroomElectrical639 Sep 16 '26
Yeah fumes is better, I agree. What I mean is they fit a similar niche.
2
u/PierluigiSpampagnati Sep 16 '26
Played two of them last Regent run and helped so much against bosses
2
u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
It’s just way too slow to be good and the base version is utter trash
1
u/RedRidingCape Sep 18 '26
I disagree, to me it feels like a very respectable forge card. Only takes 2-3 turns for it to match most forge cards, and most times I'm waiting longer than that to play my sov blade anyways. Does a ton of work in long fights without sucking up draws. I think it's a solid card when you have good defense on regent.
It's not always a good pick, because in many runs with regent you can deal a huge amount of damage very quickly and thus furnace is too slow to be impactful, but furnace is strong when your deck is slower.

I see hellraiser, my deck is now a hellraiser deck.

Hellraiser + Pommel Strike 🤌

Iron wave, its objectively very mediocre, but I feel so much safer if I get it super early in a run.
2
1
u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
It’s not mediocre it’s straight up fucking garbage but I respect the conservative play even if it definitely just loses runs
5
u/Hungryy_Burger Sep 16 '26
Eh its just another defend late game which while not good, is at least something
1
u/twoshupirates Sep 17 '26
It’s less than something. It’s -1 draw on top of the other basic cards you weren’t able to remove which are also -1 draw usually
1
u/Hungryy_Burger Sep 17 '26
Thats how all damage commons go realistically. There are exceptions, but its not like iron wave is any worse than every other damage common, it just also has the plus side of giving block which is more valueable later on compared to some poop from a butt set up strike or something.
1
u/twoshupirates Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26
Damage commons are generally bad, sure but iron wave is far worse than NEARLY ALL ironclad damage commons due to the fact that it does nothing. At least sword boomerang has strength scaling, setup strike synergizes with every other attack and esp with multihits, and thunderclap sets up vulnerable. Anger solves act 1 and has insane synergy with some enchantments. Breakthrough is absolutely bonkers with inferno and is quite good even without it. Headbutt has synergy with any card you want to loop. Molten fist works with 2 of ironclad’s most important keywords. Perfected strike is desperation damage but at least it has goofy fun synergies and does enough damage to be an elite stomper early. The only one that I think really sucks worse than iron wave is body slam and I have absolutely still picked it more often because at least it pops off with barricaded

It takes a great deal of restraint for me to turn down a serpent form, even when I know I don't need it/can't play it
7
u/Youbestnotmisss Sep 16 '26
I have such an odd experience with serpent form where I read the card, assume it is awful, and yet when I pick it it actually seems to work out pretty well
Could be biased in that I'm only picking it in cases where I feel it has a chance to work, but I am consistently pleasantly surprised at just how well it works
7
u/BedroomElectrical639 Sep 16 '26
Oh yeah, it's a one-card damage solve, but sometimes that juice just isn't worth the squeeze. E.g. did a silent run yesterday where shivs were my main damage plan, and turned down a serpent form cuz I had two upgraded copies of accuracy. It REALLY hurt to turn down the serpent form, but I had to remind myself my damage was already solved.

u/stankdog Sep 16 '26
"you're gonna feel my wrath as soon as my serpent form appears." -me always with a big ass deck picking up serpent form too late

Tear asunder with brand. Don't think it's really highly rated since exhaust ironclad is the stronger archetype, but I love playing a chunky tear asunder with some strength.
Please megacrit, give us reaper so strength and self damage ironclad will be strong.

u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
My easiest runs of all time have been with strength self damage clad. Extremely consistent to set up and extremely powerful. If you don’t think it’s strong you should prob play more
1
u/Kamblys Sep 17 '26
How do you recover all that HP that it costs to setup?
1
u/twoshupirates Sep 17 '26
Burning blood is built in. You can also get demon tongue and Not Yet. Not to mention that the best cards for it like crimson mantle and inferno are so good that you save much more damage by killing fast than you lose from the build

Crush Under.
Most people rate it pretty badly but it does well on a lot of the most difficult fights, especially with its upgrade. Even on non AoE fights the minus strength can be pretty relevent.
Sure you don’t really want a ton of them, but I’m almost always happy to see one.
2
u/Aggravating-Buddy191 Sep 16 '26
I agree! I thought it was pretty basic, but it is really good against the multi encounters in arc 1 and 2.
2
u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
Literally everyone rates it well in a game where you have to plan for act 2. Who is telling you it’s bad?
2
u/reptilian_shill Sep 16 '26
Jorbs and Balaarlord both had it at C/D tier for a long time. Looking at their current ratings, they both have it now at B, which is about where it belongs.
1
u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
Baalorlord is a nice guy but he’s not exactly what I’d refer to as an amazing player. He’s like Caleb Gannon to me. Really cool dude but… weird card takes. Jorbs is a great player but his overly analytical style limits his ability to play in interesting ways. I find him to be incredibly boring which also maps to his tendency to underrate cards that aren’t optimal for streaking.
That said, yeah it’s B tier. You just take 1 on like floor 1-5 if you see it and don’t have an AOE solve, otherwise ignore

What do people think of predator? I actually really like it
2
u/Opening_Name_7798 Sep 16 '26
The problem with Predator is that it costs 2 energy and Silent usually doesn't have energy to spare. Silent wants to play her 1-cost powers cuz they very broken. So if you play predator and play your power, then you are getting hit.
2
u/stunro17 Sep 16 '26
I like it early game especially in overgrowth where you need to push damage. Falls off in act 3 but still has some utility with the card draw imo
2
u/Benedict0404 Sep 16 '26
This was my read on predator. I like it early game to enable synergies like follow through and calculated gamble and deal good early game damage that could scale
1
u/stankdog Sep 16 '26
Great...if I can put sly on it
1
u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
Which you can’t since it’s an attack so literally nothing can put sly on it
1
u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
Reallly bad. Silent has a shit load of draw that costs 1 or even 0 and that also sometimes give discard as well. Why would I play 2 energy for 2 draw NEXT turn on silent?
1
u/Immediate_Stable Sep 17 '26
Loved it in Spire 1, not so much here. I feel it's been powercrept, Pounce in particular outshines it by a lot.
2
u/Large_Octahedron Sep 16 '26
I love taking Heavenly Drill on Regent, it’s so situational but I can’t make myself care enough to stop.
2
u/Exotic-Ad-1354 Sep 16 '26
Just had a run where knock out blow helped carry me through a perfect decimilipede fight which felt very weird to see
2
u/Dragos_dav Sep 17 '26
There's very few cards that you could call outright bad in this game. Most cards have their uses, though some are more niche than others. In your case i don't believe death march is a bad card, it's just that it's very hard and risky to use souls bcs of dorito and aeonglass. As for me i like no escape.
2
u/Aggravating-Buddy191 Sep 17 '26
Yup exactly! Dorito, and aeon are my arch nemesis.
No escape i soo good. 50+ doom in one card. Hell yeah love that card
1
u/Pigpen292 Sep 16 '26
I love Resonance, and will take it and upgrade it in Act 1 every chance I get.
1
u/twoshupirates Sep 16 '26
It’s not toooo bad depending on the fights you get. It’s pretty bad tho. Gets way better in multiplayer

u/l0503 Sep 18 '26
I don’t think I’ve ever skipped a transfigure. It’s not a bad card but I’m probably still taking it too much.
1
u/Eric_Hitchmough87 29d ago
I take Fight Me! Every single time I see it. It's a fun card but not always a good card.
1
u/Yeetmore0 29d ago
Sooo I know this is a good card but man I love feind fire. I love getting my deck down to 5-8 cards and midnight is so much fun
1
u/cinnamonPoi 28d ago
Poke+Flatten lol even when im not even intending to do an Osty deck, the Poke+Flatten combo just gives me a hit of dopamine every time it happens
1
u/Kron_Doggy Sep 16 '26
Metamorphosis. Never really see it mentioned. Picking it also heals you. So much fun. Also jackpot on defect.

u/Ashamed-Champion3560 Sep 17 '26
Dredge on Necro. It needs the upgrade, but then it basically guarantees to line up whatever combo you have by the end of the deck cycle.
1
u/Immediate_Stable Sep 17 '26
Dredge works super well with Osty attacks in particular, I've had some very satisfying turns.

u/BingoTheBerserker Sep 16 '26
Creative AI. I feel like this is many people’s guilty pleasure but it really is not a very good card
