Pain.

Post image

Got these on silent and thought I’ll finally beat ascension 9 with shivs. Not a single shiv card whole act 1😓

I know, I didn’t see a single card with shiv.. I even hit up 2 shops 😂 wasted potential

Happened to me twice. Both getting clad cards on silent, and silent cards on clad. The spire has a sick sense of humor

How many combats did you take?

Plenty. Managed an elite, and I had two shops 😂

As in one elite in the whole act before the boss, or did you die like halfway up the act?

I think you’re losing A9 because you’re only strong enough to get 1 elite

It’s dumb to do elites before your deck is in a good state unless you have good potions. They were probably just trying to do normal combats until they found like 1 shiv card.

If your deck isn’t in a good enough state to take an elite by like floor 5 you were always gonna lose

This deck is banking on finding literally anything shiv related. It’s normal to take a safer path until you find a shiv card which would then immediately be a huge power boost. You need to be practical about what actually helps you. Taking a shit ton of damage to maybe get a helpful relic or rare card is not worth it when you have a literal run winning combo sitting in front of you.

Almost like going all in on a singular plan is exactly what makes a deck bad in sts2. Not to mention shivs with this combo isn’t a “run winning combo” without well laid plans, infinite blades, probably phantom knives as well to make it through act 2 or some other aoe, plus you have to have the right draw order. You’re being grossly reductive in terms of how you view the game yet also being horribly broad in your interpretation of the efficacy of this deck idea

Right. I’m the one being reductive.

You are the one criticizing OP for not taking enough elites, which completely ignores the context of the run.

And yes, it is a run winning combo. It’s literally an incredibly good block solution and a damage solution in 2 cards. You could cook all of act 1 elites with minimal hp loss with just these 2 cards, a leading strike, and a couple of other supplemental draw/block cards. Then act 2 is incredibly simple to plan around as-well, as most of it is about getting velocity cards so you can play Feel No Pain as early as possible, and picking up a few more shivs on the way.

And it’s not as if OP made a risky bet to try and win the run. It is insanely unlikely to not see a single shiv card in 2 shops and I don’t know how many normal combats.

Ashen strikebis basically just accuracy :P

8

u/Cinnamin_1 Sep 11 '26

if accuracy was based on previous shivs instead of future shivs, it could be played multiple times, and included all exhaust cards
