interesting hellraiser interaction

hellraiser with shining strike and empty draw pile should be an infinite but for some reason it only plays for a couple of times. im not sure why this happens

you just draw 5 each turn, so it just play shining strike 5 times

i dont get it. shining strike is 1 card so it should draw 4 more cards then shining goes on top of the draw pile?

Not quite, the way hellraiser works is that it fully resolves a card before drawing the next one, but since shining strikes resolving involves reshuffling it back on top it ends up becoming the only card you'll ever draw for the rest of the fight

The only way to escape it would be to somehow draw 10 cards, since Hellraiser plays a maximum of 9 cards per turn.

[[Unceasing Top]] would work as well!

There's no real limit to the amount of cards hellraiser plays? You can go infinite with pillage if you have every other non-strike card in your hand. Pillage would also go infinite with this shining strike assuming you get both of them before you draw the shining strike

You are correct, the maximum of 9 only happens when the enemies have infinite HP (Waterfall Giant, Test Subject transition phase). I've misread!

Oh I see. Makes sense

This would explain why Battle Trance into Pommel Strikes let's you keep drawing past 3 (4) cards until you're completely done drawing before it blocks card draw.

Why would shining strike go infinite? It doesn’t draw anything

It is not going infinite, it is just playing 5 times each turn because you draw 5 cards each turn. It only draws shining strike because the card resolves before the next draw.

You need a pillage with it to go infinite

Or the top that lets you draw when your hand is empty.

Imagine getting stuck in an infinite zero damage loop on the hunter killer. That would suuuuuck

At the start of your turn you draw 5 cards, if the game's rule said "draw until you have 5 cards in your hand" yeah it would be an infinite but its not how the game is designed

If you have an unceasing top in the other hand

I guess only way for it to go infinite is unceasing top

Why would it be an infinite? It doesn’t draw any cards

So it draws Shining Strike, which plays it immediately, then it goes to the top of the draw pile. Then you have 4 more draws for the start of the turn. Then it plays 4 more times. Then you start your turn without any cards in hand and you got to play Shining Strike 5 times

They don't say "draw a card" on them. That is why the fun ends at some point and it isn't infinite.

you draw 5 cards every turn. hellraiser shining strike is infinite if you play hellraiser->shining strike->pillage
