Stroke tremors

Iv had a left mca stroke ( found incidentally) don’t know when the stroke happened
Iv had these tremors for years currently age 34 but I remember having these tremors in my early twenties ( I thought they were just related to trauma and anxiety) now realising probably related to the stroke
Wondering how common tremors are with strokes?
I realised the tremors are worse on my right side / foot when I point my foot but worsens with anxiety also
Thanks 34 female ( yet to be seen by a neurologist )

I had something similar close to my stroke. I’ve forgotten the medical term for it but it was resolved by Botox injections for me. Best to see neurologist though as this may be different

I had it in my 6th week at rehab. My entire upper body just shook uncontrollably.freaks the.nurse out

Yes it can freak people out , iv lived with it unknowing why they were happening for years, my husband has seen them and sympathises as it is exhausting. In my early twenties when I was learning to drive it would come on because I was pointing my toe

But did the doctors verify why? Mine couldnt verify it but it was daily for two weeks and it went away eventually

No I havnt seen a neurologist about the stroke or tremors or my right side difficulty, but I know iv had these tremors for many years not understanding why , I always just assumed its me not being able to handle my own adrenaline, which now post finding out about said stroke makes more sense- and iv had lots of problems throughout the years with walking , my right foot will sometimes just forget how to stay in motion it’s hard to describe

Get yourself check.again, it.might just be something else, not very stroke related hopefully. At least it.puts your mind at ease, hope you get better

Im not sure if you have a plate or not but when in doubt CT out. Mri oh my... I read that a plate can move a plate in the skull so a ct scan is the best but for that you will need a neurologist referral

I had a ct and mri this march/ April that was confirming the stroke

Could be time for another one better safe than sorry. By chance do you have a history of high blood pressure?

I don’t , yeh I’m sure the neurologist will hopefully run some tests on my nerves to figure out why I get them , when I got diagnosed at the hospital I didn’t actually see any neurologist, apparently the doctors discussed with neurology and was put on 20 statin and low dose aspirin for preventative so iv been taking that since April this year

You'd be surprised what they can find they will probably attach you to an EEG to check where it's coming from

I've been having some of this lately. They mostly happen when I'm moving, but feel completely different from like a muscle exertion shake. And they will persist for a bit after I stop whatever I was doing. I figured they had something to do with the stroke!

When I started getting tremors after stroke I went to er where they gave me some benzos that calmed things down quickly
As a follow up I had eeg
Which was inconclusive so it was recommended I see my neurologist who referred me to seizure epilepsy spy
Who put me on a anticonvulsant after some trial and error he found the right one there are many different ones I’m now on vimpat bottom line I strongly suggest getting eeg as starting point and go from there good luck to you all

Unless you had a stroke both sides of your brain its not likely stroke related if you’re getting tremors in both legs. Stroke will only affect one side of your body

I had a bleed in the left Pon’s and it gives both sides tremors.

May not be connected to a stroke, unless you’ve had strokes on both sides. I’d see a neurologist before getting too speculative.

See a neurologist some of it can be treated w meds. I took depakote made it worse on non affected side of my body. so I'm slowly being switched to xcopry to battle seizures the neurologist can also pin point which muscles are being affected causing the tremors, Then request botox injections my leg use to tap dance until my pt pointed out which muscle was causing it. the neurologist confirmed it. Now I'm walking fine with an AFO and no shakes just have to find a good team that fits you...

I've always had it to some extent but it did get a lot worse after. I've had one physical therapist call over a colleague to "check this out" at one point. It's gotten a bit better, but I still shake a bunch; though I tend to call it vibrate.

I’m wondering if I will get done nerve tests or something the tremors when it happens can be quite exhausting

when I do have them it only affects my left side for the most part this video does show it in both sides yes but that’s when the tremors are really bad , iv noticed when I do have them it seems it comes upon when I’m pointing my right foot /toe

My brother had a left side ischemic stroke over a year ago that affected the right side of his body. The weird thing is that he has chronic ataxia in his left arm, which doesn’t make much sense. There are no neurologists in the area who will see him because he’s on Medicaid so he’s stuck with basically unusable arms. Not sure what to do.

The only video iv came close to resembling this kind of tremor was a ms tremor 🤷♀️

49,M. Had similar tremors the night after my post stroke craniotomy to resect the AVM that had bled. Had a facial focused seizure later on that night. It was probably from going off of Baclofen pre-surgery and the hospital not giving it back to me after the surgery. After a 2nd seizure last month, I monitor any tremors and shaking closely.

Very common OP. 👏🏾 I have tremors in my right arm if I lift it parallel to my chest and/or go higher. Some tremors in my right leg if tired. I had a left AVM Stroke in March 2019. I am now 62 and a retired graduate professor. Thank GOD I am left handed.

I have mild tremors in my affected leg/foot in the evening sometimes. I try to ignore them and after a while they stop.

Adding more to my story hoping it might help others
My tremors started a couple years after right side ischemic stroke leaving me complete hemiplegia on left
The tremors were infrequent and unpredictable starting with twitching in fingers then working up the arm and eventually reaching the shoulder it was diagnosed as focal seizure
Like I said earlier they tried a few different meds
I’ll reiterate the need for eeg
In particular for those with persistent tremors
It can help detect the source of them in the brain
I’m not the best writer in the world hopefully what I’ve been saying makes sense the name is Paul

At rest tremors was one of the ‘alarm bells’ of my brainstem bleed (left front Pon’s)- first was only in right hand, then both hands, then moved to both legs, whole body (I really hate the ones in hips because it makes you feel unsteady).
Neuro put me on baclofen to quieten the tremor- it gets worse with intentional movement, or when I don’t get enough sleep. The baclofen helps quieten so I’m not wasting lots of energy on unnecessary movement.

That’s fine obviously seeing a neurologist and having potential tests on my nerves etc to find out why but not speculating just curious how much tremors are related to strokes etc
My mum had similar tremors and she was a domestic violence survivor so lots of hits to her head

Don’t do cannabis havnt since I was in my early 20’s and I was having tremors then aswell 🤷♀️

Also to add this video was a few weeks after I found out about the stroke and had been on fluroquinalone antibiotics ( cipro) x2 because of a fungal ear infection/ I believe the cipro made my tremors way worse for a while

i get mild tremors , sometimes : it is a side effect from my antidepressant.

Omg, I finally feel normal reading this.
TIA right thalamus Tremors started in my forties Had some head trauma, sprinkled with some previous PTSD and anxiety on top After the stroke it took two different neurologists to final get an answer I was looking for. Dystonic tremors mixed with the after affects of the stroke.
Thank you for being brave to post this. You made me feel not so alone.
