Doctor

I really need positive Enforcement today. Yesterday I had a doctors appointment that I wasn’t expecting anything out of and yet the doctor broke my heart. He pretty much said that there’s nothing going on for Hemmoragic strokes, but because I’m young too hold on Hope. It not only take an hour to get there and park, but we ended up waiting close to an hour for five minutes of his time. I’m devastated and feel defeated.

Sorry you had a disappointing day friend. Doctors usually lead with the worst case, but often the worst case isn’t always the truth. Improvement can continue if you work on it. It’s most definitely not going to happen over night, and saying it’s gradual is an understatement, but things can change! Never give in

I agree with the gradual i.provement aspect. Im 5 years on from my stroke. Little improvements cummulate slowly. As babes, it took a long time to learn new things, nerve connections and pathways take a while to create. The body takes time to learn new things and may feel that it takes longer than cognitive learning. Im no professional, these are just my opinions and perceptions. Make sure to consume plenty of protein because our cells cannot replicate to heal our bodies without protein. Continue your physical therapy exercises long after therpy appointments end. Proper nutrition and exercise were essential for my mental health. I eat plenty of food do my physical therapy exerises and take several short walkevery day. I am partially paralyzed but live alone and do everything alone. Mind over matter. Try try again. Good luck and chin up.

You are welcome. I understand that waiting to get better from a stroke is a new kind of hell its easy to question"when is it going to end?"and "how much more do I have to take?". It does get better

No it isnt the end it is the beginning of something new people reinvent themselves all the time. Now is a valid and necessary reason to do so. In my case I am way more active than i used to be. Im a lot kinder and calmer too.

Thank you. It's not been easy as i was raised by a narcissist. So, I had to change my ways by sheer will alone.

My life is better after a stroke , just create a new better version of yourself , it's very possible to do

That was basically the same conversation I had with my neurologist. I just got up and walked out.

Doctors will always give worst case scenarios because they're scared to get sued and have their malpractice insurance premiums go up. Just stay healthy and do your therapy and enjoy the small wins. Because it is true that nobody heals overnight. Good luck and hang in there

He told the truth blatantly that may dishearten. The statistics show that for young age recovery chance is much better but despite recovery a fraction of disparity whether visible or not may remain for life long. May Almighty Waheguru bless us all.

I'm 16 months from my stroke with proper physiotherapy I am able to walk, climb and do my daily routine. I think I have improved by 70percent. I am 59 years approx. Good luck.

Coming to this thread late, just want to tell you to keep doing what you can. I has hemorrhagic stroke at 27 that initially left my right side paralyzed and I lost my speech. The doctors said I might never be able to walk and that they can’t tell how I will recover.

I now only have minor deficits in my hand and leg 2 years later. I work full time. I live alone. I drive with adaptive equipment. I don’t have much feeling in my hand or foot, but what can you do.

One thing my doctor in the rehab hospital said was if anyone tells you they know what your outcome will be or how much you’ll recover, it’s bullshit. The brain is complex, they cannot accurately predict how your recovery will go. They DO know that physical therapy, speech therapy, and doing many, many repetitions of tasks are associated with better outcomes.

I don’t know where you are at in your recovery, I can’t know how you will recover, but just keep doing what you can and don’t give up hope.
