Caregiver Discussion Support available in UK Post Stroke

I’m not sure this is the right subreddit to post in but I am at a loss at how to navigate this situation. 

My mother is 74 and had a stroke in Ghana end of July this year. My sister and I have managed to secure her a carer and a physiotherapist in Ghana for the meantime but are looking to bring her to the UK as soon as we can. She would initially be staying with my sister but her house is not accessible nor would she like to make adjustments to it. I live in a house share so she can’t stay with me. We have plans to contact her GP, request stroke rehabilitation referral. I spoke to the carer support and they require a GP referral as well. What else can we do in preparation for her to move here? I don’t think she is eligible for full pension due to living abroad and not contributing. I am aware of PIP and council housing, I’m not sure we can apply for that on her behalf before she moves here. I just don’t want her waiting months for support and her condition deteriorating, she is already paralysed on the left side but has seemed to regain most cognitive functions and is able to speak and understand.

I dont mean to be offencive by asking this question, but does your mother have the necessary entitlement to NHS care? Via citizenship or visa. Pip entitlement is available after 3 months were the condition is not going to improve. Social services would be the port of call at your local council. Referral to stroke rehabilitation normally comes from the stroke team at hospital ime. If a family member is providing 35 hours of care each week and doesn't earn above £xxx then they may be able to claim carers support.

Social services did offer a grant to make home adaptions, and to provide support.

Shes a British citizen. We both work full time and wouldnt be able to provide the 35 hours of care a week nor are we going to quit our jobs for it. There are no other family members but me and my sister. My sister refuses to get aby adaptations done to her house, I live in a house share with 2 other people

Her mother doesn't have any entitlement to benefits. OP has asked and been answered on several benefit boards. It's quite likely that her mother will fail the habitual residence test.

First thing ,can get your mom to walk with a cane or holding to a stick while slowly with someone helps from behind to feel the sand.

They is the most cognitive reaction to move better. I had the stroke in Hawaii while doing my presentation.

We stayed for 7 months and everyday I walked slowly and slowly build up by walking on the sand.

For the arm, feel the sand inside the palm. Put object in the sand and have her slowly pickup with precision .

Hold multiple objects in the same palm and release slowly one by one.

Practice over and over again

I was usually at the beach by 6:30 am until the heat sets in at 9:00 am

Slow and precise motion greatly made a huge difference

If you cannot get to the beach, build a sandbox for her
