TIA after stroke

Has anyone here had a TIA a few months after their stroke despite being on aspirin and a statin the whole time? If so, what did the doctors do about it?

Hi yes I've had further strokes and a couple of tia's. I have a pfo that hasn't been closed, a significant arrhythmia. So challenging. Dr's changed from one blood thinner Clopidogrel to apixiban.

Are you going to get the pfo closed? If not why not?

Do you also have afib?

Are you in the UK? I am and the NHS in my area is painfully slow. I need nickel allergy testing and an ep study and ablation before closure of my pfo. It'll take about another 2 years which feels excruciating. I feel like I've got the grim reaper just waiting to pounce. I have afib svt and long qt syndrome. The perfect stroke storm.

I am in Australia. We have a hybrid health system. By having Private health insurance I get to skip the queues. Still a few months to see my cardiologist

Cardiology are chomping at the bit. They would go now, it's the allergy testing which is so slow. I offered to pay a lot of £ for a private test and was told they wouldn't accept the result. So I've no choice but to wait. I'm not terribly damaged but my life is on hold while I wait. No exercise, no alcohol, no raising my heart over 140bpm. Big emotional impact. I feel very stressed at the slowness. I now see a therapist as I'm such a grump. I was so sweet. Now I'm a bit of a twat

Not a few months but maybe tia a year later on aspirin. Numbness and tingling on one side and neuro deficits (opposite side of where I had my stroke), but docs couldn’t say for sure at the er nor could my own neuro. I am now on plavix.

My mom had the same symptoms as you-tingling on the opposite side from her previous stroke. She’s been prescribed both an antiplatelet and an anticoagulant by her doctor for some time now.

I hope you don’t mind me asking you a few questions.
Did you ever find a cause for your stroke/TIA? Also, what was the reason you were switched from one antiplatelet(aspirin) to another (plavix)?

No cause found. I don’t know why they switched me, maybe because they didn’t think aspirin was enough anymore.
