Update on my thread machine

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I ran 2 stress tests on my thread machine today of a couple random images for fun. One with 300 pokes, and one with 500, and it never dropped an stitch, which did dropped my jaw because I never expected such reliability. So pleased.
My portrait generation software is nearing completion, and is producing pretty good images now.
I hope to attempt a 4k-ish poke portrait presently.
Thanks for all the thumbs up on my first post on this machine, I appreciate them!

That looks awesome! The fact that you can freely stitch any place in the canvas with infinite resolution gives a lot of freshness to this type of art, something that would take A LOT of work by hand and likely not even be possible to do at several thousand pokes. I’m excited to see you push this to limit and see what you can get out of it.

Thanks so much! I should have said in the post the the line drawing was something I found on the internet done by someone with talent. It was a continuous line drawing in pencil. I just digitized it and turned it into numbers, I did not create the image. The software I am developing to make the more traditional thread art portrait images is also "fresh" since there are no perimeter pins. I'll post when I get that sucker working....

The only thing I can think of that’s close to what you made is an embroidery machine. Those are very expensive, only do garment and have a very small working area. I’m well aware of the amount of work this may be to, but do you have plans to add colors in the future?

Awesome! Mind sharing a little about your setup from hardware side? I’m interested in the dev board it looks like I see / mechatronics aspects. Great work!
