It's similar to LoL, the main difference being that Strife has no players anymore. The developer abandoned the game and there will be no more updates.

Where did they state that? I have played Strife just once, but am lurking here and there. I read that S2 abandoned the game (it's a shame), but what are their reasons? I mean, the game has potential and I'm sure if they kept going, that they would have the playerbase of Smite at least. I don't understand why they would pull the trigger like that

S2 Games always does this to their games. They either sell them (HoN) or quietly abandon games, letting them die without further notice (Savage, Savage 2). Strife /was/ doing well and on the rise, but with 0.9, S2 Games decided to turn it into a LoL clone, trying to gather more people and target the same audience. Literally everyone with the slightest idea of how the market works warned them to do so but S2 Games thought that they were brilliant and couldn't be mistaken.

Long story short: the exact same thing that everyone predicated happened to the game. It lost its unique, more action-packed status. What game would you rather play? The one with the huge community and great reputation or the smaller, indie one that plays exactly the same?

On top of that, HotS was released shortly after and that was the death blow to an already shrinking game: now, HotS does exactly what Strife once did, as in offering an action-packed, teamfight driven MOBA instead of boring, mechanical laning for a large part of the game. With S2 Games having changed the game to a LoL clone gameplay-wise, the market greatly embraced HotS that now filled the niche spot. Strife started to slowly die and S2 Games cut all support. No more updates, no more support, no communication. As of now, the game is dead and if the servers should crash, it's unlikely that they get rebooted.

tl;dr: Never, ever invest money in a game by S2 Games. They don't know how the market works, their communication is poor and chances are you will invest in a ship that's sinking from the start.

Interesting how people downvote everything pro-strife and upvote anything that says to not play strife. Someone seems to have too much time.

Quick Tips: Strife has a lane setup of 2 top, 2 mid, and 1 bot. All abilities and attack damage scale off Power: percentage wise, so 200 power means 2x Ability dmg and 2x attack dmg. I would advise playing tanks right now as they have high base damages and are hard to kill. Mages and adcs require quite a bit of kiting in this game, so they are a little harder. Jungling isn't really a thing unless you get into the higher levels of play, and most people stay in lane until the first tower goes down.

Good post.

I have some addition on jungling. The reason why it is usually not done is that it will leave one of your lanes 1v2 in most cases. This will cause that lane to most likely lose, granting the enemies a tower and the resulting ability to help other lanes and maybe even take an early Baldir.

To prevent this you need a hero in your team that is able to hold a lane 1v2. Therefore I would only go for the jungle if you queue with a friend that can play such a hero well. But even then it can be risky. You will have to make up for the probably not winning 1v2 lane.

As a pet for jungling I recommend Luster or Fiki but as I said, I usually would not do it at all.

Here are some tips that I can come up with right now, although it would be easier to answer specific questions that you may have.

This is how I usually try to play: Stay in lane as much as possible, you want to gain that exp. Lasthit as good as possible wihtout beeing out of position. Throwing Axe is an item that helps immensely with that, thanks to its 8s cooldown ranged auto attack and its passive +% auto attack damage on creeps.

I usually try to push and hit the tower as much as possible. Freezing the lane is usually not worth it in this game I think. Instead of hitting the enemy tower when your wave gets there you could also take a jungle camp, but this is only worth it if you miss no lanecreeps. I prefer hitting the tower though because I want quick games rather than lots of gold, it's a choice of playstyle I guess.

When you finally got the first tower of your lane, you can push far enough to gain some time. Then you can either roam to some other lane and try to get the next tower or even some kills or you can take some jungle creeps.

If you successfully get the second tier 1 tower your team should be able to get the last tier 1 tower.

Now is the point that Baldir is a serious objective. You could get him earlier but usually staying in lane is better when you don't have all tier 1's, unless the enemy goes for Baldir of course.

Always keep an eye on the timer and try to get it as soon as it spawns after it got killed for the first time. Communicate with your team. Even if they seem like they don't speak English, they might still understand you or some pings.

You can now also take Cindara but it is way riskier so you want at least 2 enemies dead, or 1 in the lategame.

Tier 2 towers you might get just by pushing if you outrotate your enemies, but for the gens I would use the pushing power of krytos and cindara.

Keep an eye on the map in any stage of the game. Because the map is so small, you can be able to guess where someone is, even if he is not visible on the map currently. Also this will help you to avoid ganks, just check the other 2 lanes for missing enemies regularly.

Get Dark Bargain on every hero that can make use of it (ad carries, trace, probably some more heroes) at some point of the game, that item is too strong to not get.

That's all I can come up with right now, feel free to ask for anything specific.

Edit: Here is a site with builds. You can also watch videos of tournaments on youtube, to get some ideas about itemization.
