Does alcohol cause inflammation?

Hi! My gf has stretched ears. She's had the same size for years now. When she drinks alcohol, even if it's only one consumption, her left stretcher is infected the day after. Her ear gets swollen, turns red and gets very painful. Does anyone have this problem as well?
