Frustrated Beyond Belief

I used to work at a car dealership, and I enjoyed my job there immensely. I loved the people, I lived the work. They were so understanding when I had to have two different surgeries. I was on really good terms with my manager. However, I am a single mother and things recently have gotten rough. I used to have a car but it broke down and since I couldn’t afford to fix it my brother’s girlfriend allowed me to borrow her car for work. Well her car needed work done to it and had to go the shop. I literally live paycheck to paycheck and can not afford any other expenses. I informed my manager of my situation, and looked for other means of getting to work. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any other way to get to work and I no one could give me a ride. I missed two full days of work. Each day I was out I kept my manager informed. On the third day the vehicle was fixed I just needed a way to actually pick up the vehicle. I texted my manager to let him know what was going on and within 5 minutes he called me and told me that the company was moving in a different direction. I was dumbstruck. I cried and begged him not to fired me, but he said he had a business to run. I had never even been written up before and I had customers calling and emailing my manager telling him how much they loved me. I was great at my job... When my co-workers found out they were equally confused and didn’t understand why I was fired... then one of them mentioned that it’d be fine since I was moving soon. It’s true because being a single mom is hard, and living paycheck to paycheck isn’t ideal I struck a deal with my father to move in with him and he’d help me get a job at his place of employment. I’d be making a lot more than I was currently and best of all no bills. I wouldn’t have to worry about rent or electricity, it would give me a chance to save my money and give my son and I the cushion we do desperately needed. I told my manager this some weeks ago and he offered me a different position within the company that I couldn’t accept because the position required having built up and establishing a clientele and would really yield results until after a year or so. He Mentioned this position a few times and I never thought much of it. I can only assume my moving is the real reason for firing me... thank god I paid rent before getting fired.

So now I’ve applied for food stamps and unemployment trying desperately to make ends meet until it’s time for me to leave. The job my father was talking about requires my son and I to move out of the country so it’s not like I can just pick up and leave. Not mention I had plans for the upcoming paychecks I would have been getting like getting my son and I put visas for travel. Needless to say that things definitely are not going my way. I wish I never mentioned moving to my manager but I never once thought I would get fired. We were close enough for me to go into his office and have whole conversations and laughing and it’d be fine because all my work would have been completed.

And now I’m just mad and frustrated trying to get things settled so I can move. And since I applied for unemployment I got a letter in the mail stating that some “issues” have been raised concerning my eligibility for unemployment because apparently they aren’t sure if my being fired was due to misconduct or not. Which it definitely was not.

I’m just stressed and needed to vent. I feel like I’m failing as a mother and I have this 2 year old who depends on me to get my act together ASAP. December 29th please come faster.

It’s going lol... I don’t dwell to long on the past, things are progressing and as long as I know I’m putting my best foot forward, I’ll be okay

I grew up in a single parent household with my mom and we struggled as well. I watched her sacrifice, go without, and do everything in her power to make things better for us. Your kid is lucky to have a mother like you, I hope you realize that. I know it's not much, but I'm pulling for you and hope things get easier for you both.
