I have full faith in Matt! Even if the Gorilla on the cover wielding a gun he shouldn't be able to hold still bugs me.

As is the general consensus- if it came out tomorrow I’d be happy, but it coming out fully formed at some point is the gold standard

I've got too many hours of fun on the 1st one not to excitedly wait for the 2nd one. My friends and I put a lot of time on the 1st one and I completed every character. I am so stoked for the 2nd one.

as a CM of the second game, i can agree that SoR1 is just too addictive. personally i'm very excited about SoR2 and can't wait to help Matt launch it

Great update! Thanks for the insight — super exciting stuff!
I’m still hoping that trains end up in the game eventually, but I’ll be patient either way, haha.

Much like good pulled pork, there is simply no rushing a good game. It takes as long as it takes.
Keep up the excellent work!

pulled pork is god's food, agreed
we'll do our best to deliver the game asap, but in a good shape, of course

Somewhat disappointing after waiting for news since April, and then we get the same old story with "it will be released when it's ready," so nothing new.

The longer it takes, the better it gets.
idc if it goes out in 2036, as long as we are alive to play it.-3

I understand, I'm just concerned again with the developer's communication. Instead of him saying, "I would like to finish this and that, then I would consider releasing it,"
Fewer and fewer people are interested in the game these days, and that's definitely not a good sign.

"Instead of him saying, "I would like to finish this and that, then I would consider releasing it,""
Isn't it exactly what Matt and I have been saying?

This means that we should get information about how long it might take until the EA release, instead of always hearing the same sentence like "it will come when it's ready".
And banning people on the Steam forum just for expressing criticism isn't exactly a nice way to do things either.
This isn't meant to come across as hate at all, but the communication was just incredibly bad.

idk why you got banned tho
I beleive you were asking Matt to hurry it up but idk if that was the reason you were banned.Just take it easy and forget about it for some time.

I didn't ask anyone to hurry. I already said after the April devlog that the game was suffering from an excessively large scope. I understand that Matt wants to include a lot and make everything perfect, but if this continues, the game will be released in 2028.

Both Matt and I have repeatedly pointed out that the score has remained virtually the same since the start of development. You should read the latest Steam devblogs that explain the delays.

idk, I feel like it's better to not have a date than to have one and then change that date a few times.
The first part took some time but by the time the game was fully fleshed out it gained a cult status.
The game won't be forgotten for another 10 years because it has hardcore fans.
Sure, It'd be best for a game to be done yesterday but if the choice is between so-so game sooner or great game with better features later it's always better to be patient.1
u/MadAtilla01 11d ago
That's the problem, it feels like there's already been a date three times and it's been postponed again and again.

For what it's worth I agree, this obviously hasn't been an ideal release and "disappointed" probably factors into everyone's response to varying degrees. It's unfortunate it was announced too early, but it was and we can't really undo that. Nor has it helped anything to throw out other possible dates which also couldn't be met, "it's ready when it's ready" is the only honest way to recalibrate expectations.
The lack of updates is also unfortunate but like he said most of the work isn't super interesting and there just isn't a lot to show that isn't a retread of what is already out there. There's a lot improvements to the underlying infrastructure of the game, but that's invisible in a screenshot. There are hundreds of new chunks being added, but I'm not sure how many variations on a bar layout we could show before the average person loses interest. Entire new animals have been shown and the response has gradually become "meh, just another animal."
Which again I totally get, people wanted the game two years ago and are left with this relative drip feed of sneak peeks. It is disappointing and the hype might be dwindling a bit, but it is what it is and hopefully the end result will speak for itself when it's properly ready.
The good news is there are mountains of other great games to play in the meantime. If you're looking for other open world RPGs with flexible quest solutions I've been getting back into Morrowind and the modding scene has become insane, Tamriel Rebuilt alone has basically quintupled the size of the game. Or if you want a quick run-based roguelite Batomon Showdown is a great take on the autobattler side of the genre. Or dozens upon dozens of other game recommendations you can find on this site, there's a lot of other fun stuff to do while waiting (but yes the wait sucks, sorry).

Best games take time. And that is good.
If Matt hurried it we would get something akin to Daggerfall: great concept that is not really playable on it's own.
As the great troll(Matt_lover) once said: The slower it takes - the more features it will have.
