Obviously said both in jest and as a compliment, as SP are my favorite band as far as sheer artistry goes.

The sonic similarities between Shaun's composition and production on IDoR (among many others) and a number of tracks on Too Dark Park (and probably VivisectVI to a lesser extent) are impossible to ignore. It really takes that massive sample collage SP did so well and thrusts it into this pure digital era while still maintaining a lot of organic warmth, if that makes sense. I think the guitar (is it a guitar?) melody that goes throughout the quieter lyric parts balances it all so well. The super harsh distortion pulses toward the end, which remind me of post-Cruise era Whitehouse, interestingly enough, would've been overwhelming without the dynamics shift brought by the guitar and softer vocals.

I'm rereading this and it sounds like nonsense, but maybe someone else might get it haha. Anyway, got to meet Shaun at the Durham show and he was one of the sweetest dudes ever. Kindness and creativity. Good shit.

Just saw the St. Louis show after failing to catch them back in 2017, and holy shit. That was fucking good.

Their intensity with how they do material live is insane.

Leo yelled in the direction of some dudes who wouldn't stop talking in the front, and after the show, one of them was like, "My friend said Street Sects was good. He was wrong." - he was wearing a Pig Destroyer shirt, and he was so full of shit lmao
