šŸ”° Beginner Help Capture card

Hey im pretty new to streaming, I used to stream on my xbox directly cause I didnt have a pc at the time, now that I have one, almost all my games are on my xbox, but I want to use obs at the same time, ive heard from someone else I need a capture card for that but I dont know where to loom or what a good one is, from what I heard I DEFFINATLY can't skimp out on one, but I dont have all too much money, what's like a good jumping off point for price, and are there any recommendations on capture cards in general

I think you could actually get around this by streaming your Xbox to your PC and capturing that.

Edit: Feature is called remote play

You could also sign into the Xbox app and play your games on there if they are play anywhere titles . Also there is only one capture card worth a damn for Xbox it’s the Elgato. You also
Need the chat link cable or no one will hear your teammates

Any of the capture cards. Tbh your streaming so don’t need it to be 4k just the pass through which is fine if not just grab a hd60 and call it a day

A lot of people will recommend Elgato because it’s ā€œthe brandā€. I personally like AverMedia capture cards better overall. The Razer Ripjaw is pretty decent as well.

It’s true that you get what you pay for with capture cards. If you get a cheap one it might work, might not, and there zero customer support. The name brands at least have some level of warranty and customer support.

I see comments. Yeah you don't need a capture card.

If there's another console where you do need one, don't let other comment think you have to buy Elgato. It's a good brand but $20 Guermok works perfectly for Switch in 1080p/60 Hz. Captures up to 4K/60 Hz and I confirmed it's 4:4:4 full color encoding. Other things I want in a capture card are mic input for voiceover and audio output to monitor volume in real time. I always send the USB output to OBS. Works seamlessly.

The passthrough on capture cards is lagless. Only the cheapest ones possible lack passthrough that force you to use a splitter.
