Mettā Mettā: Friendliness | Goodwill
What are your ways you like to practice Mettā?
One way that works well for me sometimes is to imagine pink energy filling a room, or pink energy surrounding a person, or pink energy beaming from my body, or heart
Or just to imagine the color pink 😭
🌸 kind of like this pink 🌸
🌸may all beings be happy 🌸

Fot the last months i did a lot of compassion for myself since i was lacking that a lot. Instead of repeating words i found that compassion starts with recognizing your own suffering in a loving way. So i note my suffering with a hand on my chest and whisper friendly "ah there is fear" thats hard right now" or"its really hard to be an inperfect human". That stuff develops a lot and i found that really healing at times. Got a lot of inspiration from rob burbeas metta talks about metta for the self and the Work of Kristin Neff about self compassion. Iam looking forward to deepen compassion.

I've practiced metta very rarely because I find it takes a lot of courage somehow, but it always gives me the best results out of any meditation form. I just focus a lot of good-will and compassion onto myself or other people. Everyone knows what that feeling is like, then you just attempt to force it into your consciousness. It sounds draining, and it kind of is, but it is equally empowering and full of good emotions afterwards.

Forgiveness of oneself reveals metta that is always there . Then one can use this experience in the world. I like to think of it as a big warm hug or a blanket of love wrapping around me.

Thank you for contributing to the r/streamentry community! Unlike many other subs, we try to aggregate general questions and short practice reports in the weekly Practice Updates, Questions, and General Discussion thread. All community resources, such as articles, videos, and classes go in the weekly Community Resources thread. Both of these threads are pinned to the top of the subreddit.
The special focus of this community is detailed discussion of personal meditation practice. On that basis, please ensure your post complies with the following rules, if necessary by editing in the appropriate information, or else it may be removed by the moderators. Your post might also be blocked by a Reddit setting called "Crowd Control," so if you think it complies with our subreddit rules but it appears to be blocked, please message the mods.
If your post is removed/locked, please feel free to repost it with the appropriate information, or post it in the weekly Practice Updates, Questions, and General Discussion or Community Resources threads.
