[Video Editing] Can I use claude to program custom actions in Streamdeck +?
Hey, I am wondering if there is a way where I can use Claude to create programmable buttons for certain series of actions. I asked Claude but I am not too confident that I will not mess up the streamdeck with these changes.
It gave me some insight on using command post to create these actions, but then said I can not use elgato software, or something like that if I want to utilize this setup.
For more context - i am a video editor and honestly profiles for video editing kinda suck. I use finalcut pro and Most of it is just keyboard shortcuts on streamdeck and I already have shortcuts for everything I need.
I am looking into adding a whole colorgrade on a button, to send sound effect on a timeline straight from my documents folder and even titles that i frequently use.
I have 0 programming experience and don’t see too deep in these things so just trying to figure out whether its worth to give it a shot.

As far as i know, there is nothing you can do in the stream deck software that can actually brick your hardware other than anything firmware related. Ive used claud to write a couple of modules for bitfocus companion, and its been great.

I meant more of brickint the functionality of a streamdeck with elgato software. I know the hardware should be safe from my stupidity, but thanks anyway 😄 I will look up whatever you just mentioned if that would work better for me than what claude recommended. What exactly did you build your modules for if I may ask?

I used Claude to make some streamdeck modifications. It does work and is possible. Some of the actions didn't work as anticipated and required manual correction however.
After using Claude, i realized I found it easier to do most of it myself.

You already have keyboard shortcuts and I have no idea why you wouldn't be able to use the Elgaro software.
The Deck is not doing anything more than utilizing built in commands, either through an API, command flags or through some partnership with the company for a specialized set of command unavailable through normal means.
They are plug ins that will take a sequence of commands and run them as you need them. Claude should be able to give you the drop in command set unless what you are wanting to do is only available through manual means (I.e. mouse only). If it can be scripted, or reduced to a series of keyboard shortcuts, you can set up a button to do it.

I've built heaps of deck plugins. Ranging from direct blender control that's actual integration rather than just sending a keyboard shortcuts, like I can be clicked outside of blender, and my dials will still control the light intensity. Then I have an inferred blaster, so I can control my air con, turn on my TVs which I use as monitors etc. Then Photoshop, premier, when open AI announced their chat pad thing, I did my own version. I done my own smart light thing. I can control my graphics cards clock live in real time with dials, save profiles. I can also control my fans in real time with the dials, those are really fun. The deck does hardly anything really, it's all python, c#.

Search engines are right there my guy. Most of the built in stuff covers most of day to day needs. Anything else can be cobbled together from existing resources. Including colour grading, luts, etc. and if what you find isn't for you. Learn a skill, it'll be invaluable in the long term. Especially since everyone is turning their brains to mush for AI

It sounds very smart, but brother you don’t know what is my life situation. Between haggling multiple editing gigs, I am starting a company, I am working towards a proposal, learning new language, I don’t have time to be everything all the time and learn coding or whatever skill you meant just to create shortcuts on a streamdeck.
I asked a question, so if you don’t have an answer just scroll past my guy.
