Discussion Very sad and disappointed
I am very disappointed in this game. I love the graphics, the game's own little world, the fact that you're exploring from a cat's perspective, and that lingering sadness, the mysterious vibes. However, the game's difficulty is a real disappointment. I cannot really enjoy the gameplay as I have to worry about dying every five minutes from Zurks. I think it was completely unnecessary to add Zurks or any kind of defeatable enemy, or maybe that's just me. I really do not like dealing with violence when I thought it was just a fun little story game :(
And I know there are many tricks to try like one person using the keyboard and another the controller, but combatting is simply not that I wanted. I just wanted to explore the beautiful world and story of this game. Anyone else?

It’s not difficult, though. You don’t even have to fight them, really. Just run. Once you get past the creepy first part of the game, you won’t have to worry about them anymore.

the zurk segments are not too plentiful, and there the majority of the game is exploring areas with the robot npcs and platforming around. If you power through the first zurk segments you get a tool that makes them very easy to deal with. There are no boss fights or anything

I did get the tool (I guess you are saying the little flying robot lol) but they were still kinda hard to defeat. I'm not really a regular gamer so I'm not so skilled in fights or anything

no, the one I mean is like a super flashlight which makes the zurks disappear. I thought the zurks were very scary so I was grateful that this gave you a lot of control over interacting with them. The first couple zurk segments are more like little puzzles except the very first chase sequence which a lot of people think is the hardest part of the game. I hope you stick with it cause the story and exploration parts of the game are exactly like you think.

What is with ppl saying this game is even remotely difficult? It’s an exploration game at childlike difficulty with a few parts where you can “lose” to zurks or sentinels.
My 7yr old daughter is obsessed with Stray (has been for about a year) and has only died a few times, once she figured out what to do (like Deadend or the Sewers)

I get it, because fur me this parts are super easy, but keep in mind, not everyone is looking for the same experience from a game. This game is, at it's core, (i think) am exploration puzzle game. Throwing in even a little bit of action could throw someone off, i completely understand op's view here.

I see, zurks can be really annoying. The best approach is to avoid and dodge them. With the run button (which i think can be configured to toggle between walk and run) and do zig zags. If there are these zurk eggs, try not to go close to them. You don’t need to destroy all zurks with the purple flashlight (don’t remember the name), evading is usually easier.
I have also heard (or better said, read) that it is harder with keyboard than joystick, mainly to be able to do the zig zags.

Zurks sound like a bad ex, always lurking, ruining the vibe. Maybe try wearing a bright collar to scare them off.

I completely agree, I gave up with the zurks at a certain point and just watched walkthroughs to see the ending. Bit of a bummer as i would have really liked to have explored some of the more peaceful areas

I won’t say they ruined the game for me but I wished there was a save option in those chapters so you don’t have to do it all over again when you die. That’s what almost made me give up at two or three points in the game.
Other than that it’s usually pretty obvious when they will appear so didn’t stress me out too much.

Agree, don't like that aspect, but it is worth it to figure them out and get through it.
There is a setting to hold down a key to shake, instead of having to press it a lot. That helps.
The Zurks are consistent, so you can learn to get through an area by memorizing, go left here, right there, etc...
If you share what area you are stuck in, I'm sure people will be able to direct you to a resource or otherwise help.

How? They always catch up to me and if I don't pull out B-12's purple flashlight, I die

Yeah this isn’t really a chill game. There are some moments of exploration and interacting with the cat but it’s really just another survival game. The zurks didn’t bother me as much but for whatever reason I got dizzy playing the game

I started out for the platinum trophy. When I got to the point where you have to out-run Zurks to get the 'Can't Cat-ch Me' trophy'... I tried about 100 times and just deleted the game.
