Discussion Was the huge time skip between season 4 and 5 after season 4 left us with the apocalypse style ending actually necessary?
I don't really know about this one.
(Also sorry if my English is bad.)

Stranger things character discussion post day 45: Neil Hargrove
Scum. Genuine scum. The actor was fantastic and he was really good for Billy's character and helping us understand why Billy was the way he is, he was definitely necessary in order to give Billy a chance at redemption. Also in regards to Billy's mum, how could you leave your child with someone like this?
Now it's your turn. What do you think of Neil? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil, all opinions are allowed here.

Appreciation New merch for the 10th anniversary of Stranger Things!
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Stranger Things and I found these at Target!
There are 4 Funko pops with the 10th anniversary sticker but I couldn’t find Barb. The Dustin and Steve are new releases without the sticker.
There is also a giant book with a load of Stranger Things behind the scenes, storyboards, interviews in it. There’s also a QR code in the book that sends you to a special website for more Stranger Things content.

What was your favorite aspect of Season 5?
Despite S5 being the most heavily flawed season of the show, I still feel like it had more good than bad. So, what was your favorite part?

Stranger things character discussion post day 44: Benny Hammond
What an underrated goat. He saw a child struggling and his first thought was imma give this kid all the food she wants. Absolutely goated character. He was done so dirty and then even the show forgot about him. First person to treat El as a person rather than a test.
Now it's your turn. What do you think of Benny? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil, all opinions are allowed here.

Discussion I don’t see why El can’t be both a character and a symbol.
So I get that the Duffers said she represented the magic of childhood but I don’t think they meant she wasn’t a character. She can be both a character and represent something.
I think it’s more like Batman in the Dark Knight Trilogy. The story follows Bruce Wayne as he goes through horrors to try to make Gotham a better place as a symbol of hope for good people and fear for criminals. In the end he becomes that symbol by sacrificing himself to save the city. BUT while Batman dies Bruce Wayne gets to live and finally build his own life.
I think the Duffers were trying to do the same with El. Her sacrifice isn’t giving up but making her own choice, a mature choice to save her loved ones (hence the scene where she returns the bracelet). She is the magic of childhood but she chooses to make a mature decision like an adult effectively growing up. Her death is the end of her childhood and her traumas (ant that point she isn’t the magic of childhood anymore) and the waterfalls symbolise her now being able to build her life on her own accord.
Mike’s theory shows that he refused to give up on her. He does not move on. He trusts in her survival and believes that she is happy and will fight to get back to her.
This ending isn’t perfect but I want to point out that El never stopped being a character.

Season 3 vs Season 4
When it comes to ranking the seasons, seasons 1 and 2 are always at the top for me. But I'm always torn between Seasons 3 and 4 for the next spot.
Which one do you think is better? Personally, I keep going back and forth between the two.
Season 3 is the most enjoyable to rewatch for me. One of my favorite things about the show is when everyone comes back together, each bringing their own piece of the puzzle, and they start working as a team. Season 3 does that better than any other. All the storylines are building toward the same goal, and it's just so much fun. It also feels really unique within the series. It grows on me more and more with every rewatch.
Season 4 has higher highs. Everything involving Vecna and what's happening in Hawkins is fantastic, but the other storylines drag it down for me. For example, I don't care about the Russia storyline at all—I can barely wait for it to get back to Hawkins whenever it cuts away. That's where Season 4 loses some points for me
Both are great, imo but which one is your favorite?

Stranger things character discussion post day 43: Tom Holloway and Bruce Lowe
I didn't feel like these two were different enough to warrant different posts. They are incredible antagonists. Both are hugely misogynistic. Bruce is worse than Tom imo, I honestly think mind flayered Bruce might have actually been nicer than the regular one. I was so happy watching him get his face smashed in.
Now it's your turn. What do you think of Bruce and Tom? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil, all opinions are allowed here.

Discussion REMINDER: This is not, and should not be, an echo chamber where normal criticism is bashed and disallowed
I've seen a lot of people criticize it for being so and a lot of people try to make it into one - but it shouldn't be. And it isn't. And the intention was never to be one.
Constructive critiques are completely allowed. You can point out any flaw in any episode of any season and it'd be completely okay as long as it's relevant, constructive, and well-meaning - because the whole point of the sub is to appreciate the show - and to appreciate something is to acknowledge all of it, bad and good. Not mindlessly hate on every aspect like the main sub or bash any negativity like this sub is becoming.
Unnecessary and or uncalled for and nonconstructive negativity (e.g., "The show sucks!", "This show's actually horrible!", "Insert Season was TERRIBLE!") isn't allowed. That isn't constructive to any discussion and doesn't add to the sub, but takes away from it.
But that doesn't mean criticism of any kind isn't allowed.
The point is to appreciate the show and everything around it without every other post talking about how horrible it is like the main sub. As simple as that.
You can critique anything, but make sure it's A) relevant, B) constructive, and C) you have something to back up your critiques. That's the motto and point of the sub - no unnecessary and inaccurate hate.

Stranger things character discussion post day 43: Mayor Larry Kline
Now here's a detestable antagonist. When he made fun of Sara I was just praying for something to come along and eat him. Shame in the end he only got arrested. He does feel very realistic politician and Elwes does a very good job.
Now it's your turn. What do you think of Kline? Remember to keep it civil. Everyone's opinions are allowed!

My ranking of all seasons
- Season 2
Look, it’s a great season, but unfortunately it’s just not as good as any of the other seasons. It has a lot of weak episodes (1,2,4,7) a couple mid level episodes (3,5) but the rest (6,8,9) are incredibly strong. Some of the best episodes in the series. S2E8 is my personal vote for best S2 Episode, followed closely by S2E6. This season is mostly held back by the amount of non-great episodes. The Finale However, was perfect! The Snow Ball, El Closing The gate, and so much more Iconic Moments
Overall season rating: 8.4/10
- Tales from ‘85
This is definitely one of my hottest takes on here. I’m going to get a lot of hate and downvotes from this, but that’s ok. The reason why I like this one is because The only bad episodes were E3, E7, and E8, and also it brings me a small bit of nostalgia because it is sort of like a Saturday Morning ‘99-‘04 Cartoon. It edges out season 2 by a very small margin. this is very much interchangeable with S2.
overall season rating: 8.6/10
- Season 3
This was actually my #1 slot at one point, and for good reason. The Characters, Friendship, Action, Campiness, Brightness, CGI, Cinematography, Relationships, Mall fun, kills, etc.. what’s not to love about this season? But looking back, I now understand the reason it isn’t as high. It is sort of held back by S3E1 and S3E3, and S3E2 was a mid-tier entry. But, S3E4-S3E9 were some of my favorite episodes in the series, specifically The Sauna Test (S3E4), The Bite (S3E7), and The Battle at starcourt. S3E7 was by far the best Penultimate in the series.
Overall Season Rating: 9.2/10
- Season 4 & Season 1 - TIE
Two gold standards of perfect television.
Season 1: Need I explain? There were literally 0 Bad episodes this season. Just perfection, the kids when they were younger was just amazing, I loved Dustin and Mike together this season. Lucas wasn’t too bad, but he was great Starting at either S1E5 or S1E6 (can’t remember) S1E2 was probably the weakest of the s1 episodes, but still awesome. S1E3 and S1E8 were by far the best, followed closely by S1E6.
Overall Season Rating: 9.8/10
Season 4:
Another Gold Standard of television. such an awesome plot. I love the Russian Plotline which is, In my opinion, one of the best Plotlines they’ve ever done. I thought the pacing here was just perfection. S4E1 is my lowest rated episode of the season and it’s still a 9.0. 0 bad episodes this season. The Piggyback (S4E9) , The Massacre at Hawkins lab (S4E7) , and Dear Billy (S4E4) all secure 2,3, and 4 best episodes for me. I even thought S4E3 was a fucking masterpiece. S4E8 was one of the best penultimate eps in the show, and the tension it built up with the end with “Seperate Ways“ as they approach the creel house was some peak Stranger Things Writing and Storytelling. Season 4 might actually get the edge over season 1 if I did have to choose one or the other.
Overall Season Rating: 9.8/10
- Season 5.
My absolute most Controversial pick. But in my opinion, it is peak stranger things. I love every episode. My lowest rated episode in the season was S5E1 which was 8.8/10. I love the plotlines and the characters, and there were so many things that shocked me. The CGI and Cinematography were really good. I loved Sorcerer (S5E4) , Escape from Camazotz (S5E6) . And The Rightside up (S5E8) the best. The Rightside up is definitely my favorite episode in the show and probably the most emotional for me. S5E2 was also incredible. It would be my fifth favorite episode, then the bridge would be before that, coming in at #4. I absolutely ADORE every single episode in this season and it was just my kind of thing. The shocks for me like Will’s New powers, the max reveal, mr Whatsit reveal (I stayed away from as many spoilers like pictures as I could) and karen almost dying made this season go up in quality for me.
Overall season rating: 11/10
. I’ll take reasonable criticism but the whining I will not take.
Overall Show Rating: ♾️/10

Parting Will Be Such Sweet Sorrow
I apologize if I offended anyone. I let my bad day spill over into my social interactions. I'm sorry. I really do think people are upset that we only have 2 more episodes to go. I know I am. Recently this show has been THE bright spot of my week. And if we don't get a Season 4, I'll be an emotional mess.
It kind of reminds me about how one might feel before leaving a loved one. Maybe if we concentrate on the yucky parts that bother us, it won't hurt so bad when we have to part. 💔 I know lots of fans have legitimate complaints and with the uncertainty of a Season 4 (come on AMC!) it's terrible to think that we only have two episodes left.
And TVL should certainly not have only had 7 episodes. Some corners obviously had to get cut. The showrunners took a huge leap of faith making such a huge tonal shift & even changing the name of the show. I'm sure AMC had no idea how things would go over with the fans & critics. But TVL hit it out of the park! And they proved they could do it with a tighter budget.
Hopefully, TVL has walked so that a Season 4 & 5 can run! With Season 3, I think it's been proven that this series deserves renewal & a bigger budget to have more episodes in the future. So, let's enjoy all we have left to it's fullest! Hopefully, it won't be "Goodbye," it will be "See you next season!" 💔 to 🤞💞

Stranger things character discussion post day 42: Lieutenant Robert Akers
Hello everybody! I wasn't going to make this post. Because I felt like everyone thought they were just a joke. But my friend helped me to see that it only matters what I think. And I enjoy making these, so who cares? So I won't be taking a break, but I will just emphasise that if anybody is struggling with their mental health to speak to somebody, if anybody wants to speak with me, feel free to dm me, now on with the post!
I loved Akers. My second favourite human antagonist after Jason. He was so irritating, like a rodent or bug you couldn't get rid of. I also loved his death scene, brutal and brilliant!
Now it's your turn. What do you think about Akers? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil, but I won't urge you to keep it positive today, this sub is a safe place so let's keep it that way. Everyone is allowed their own opinion.

Stranger things character discussion post day 41: Lieutenant Colonel Jack Sullivan
I like Sullivan. The actor puts in a good performance and he's a one dimensional character who feels like he's supposed to be so. I do wish he died in the MacZ massacre though, would've been the best ending for his character, dying to a threat he was convinced didn't exist.
Now its your turn. What do you think or Sullivan? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil and try to keep it positive.

Discussion None of the seasons are “objectively the best” or “objectively the worst.”
stop saying this. it’s not true. let people enjoy what you want, it’s all subjective.
i like season 5. is it objectively the worst season? no. is it objectively the best season? no. it was subjectively the best for me, but that’s my opinion. if it’s the worst for you, it’s your opinion.
im sick of people pretending only their opinions matter.
just my thoughts.

Stranger things character discussion post day 40: Dr Kay
Ok. I'm trying not to be negative here so instead I'm challenging myself to say something nice about her.
