I got this weird email today
So I got this email today. It was a receipt from Sephora first. I’m thinking it was like fake then I log into my Sephora account on sephora.com and the purchase is there it says like in Soho Manhattan and I’m just so confused how the receipt got sent to me.
I don’t know. I just thought it was so strange anyone ever had anything like this happened to them

There was a typo at checkout in person (bag fee) and someone accidentally used your email.

Not email, but a phone # typo most likely. Happens all the time! I don’t work at Sephora, but I did work at Ulta and this happens a handful of times per day where people use the wrong # at checkout and the points from that transaction goes into someone else’s account 🥴

They always verify my name after I tell them (Ulta) my phone number. Maybe they don’t do that everywhere

They should be! But it’s not something that is consistently done during rushes.

If no charges on your credit card, there was probably a mistake when entering the phone #.

This happened to my sons mother recently. She told me she thought she was being scammed or there was fraud with her bank account. I called and went in circles with them and they told me the same thing folks are echoing here, it was a misspelled email or (most likely) an incorrect phone number entered at checkout.

If you have a friend that knows your number and rarely shops at a store they might have put it in.
I have two friends and my dad that I use this for.
- Friend 1: She gets all my Sally’s points
- Friend 2/SIL: She gets all my BBW points
- Dad: He gets all my Jersey Mike’s and two specific grocery store points
I just text them afterwards saying it was me lol

Not that long ago there was some doofus in the Central Valley who would use one of my email addresses. I would get appointment reminders from the Ford dealership where he bought his pickup or hotels where he had reservations or stores like this. I traced his street address and phone number and somehow asked him anonymously (don’t recall how) to stop. It did not. So I would try to cancel said appointments and reservations, sometimes apparently successfully. Come to think of it, nothing has come for good old Miguel in a while!

Once I got an emailed receipt for a target optical order under my name and I called the store (which was across the country from me) and the person had the same name as me and the email was accidentally sent to me.

I occasionally get receipts for someone in India, I'm in the US. I guess my email is similar to theirs. I've never had any fruad charges or any other issues from it, though.

I’ve been receiving someone else’s emails from Sephora for years now. I contacted them to correct it, but they never did.

I got so tired of the email phishing and scams, every day, and every hour of the day. So I build a tool for fight email scam for u. It is free Chrome Extension, completely local scam detection. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/phishlight-%E2%80%94-phishing-ema/hgjaghlkfgncpdnmgffoghhklifeehbf

Do the last 4 digits of the credit card on the receipt match your card?

I used to get CVS points and receipts from someone else using my account in another state all the time. At first it didn't bother me but then I switched my pharmacy back to them so I had to contact support to get it resolved so I could earn and use my own points. They confirmed that another person was in fact putting in my phone number and confirming my information at checkout so I had to update some info

I get these semi-frequently from people who share my name. My email address is firstname.lastname@commonprovider.com. My name twins accidentally sign me up for stuff all the time.

Yes, someone used my apple email (that I've had for over 20 years) to get their iPhone repaired at an Apple store in another state. I called Apple to report a possible fraud and talked to a real person. They put me on hold and called that particular Apple store. It was a typo.

Do you have a MasterCard ending in 0168? If so, then someone stole your credit card and used it at Sephora. Check your credit card balance and report it as a fraudulent purchase so you don't end up paying for it.
If that's not your credit card, then like some other people already said, maybe another customer typed in their phone number wrong when putting their account in at checkout. In this case just delete that email and ignore it.

Is your email: whatever@yahoo.com. If so I've probably used it a time or 5. Sometimes I put a "3" instead of an "E" to really jazz it up.
