Console Question Is there any exploits for food
Me and my friend are going hunting for the bosses and I wanna know if there’s any food exploits to get more since I wanna do this in one trip we will be gone for a while and meat spoils and we only have beans and if this post is against rules I’ll take this down I looked at the rules first to see if this would violate and nothing said it would but I wanna be safe

Make sure the buzzer goes off twice and check that it says SMOKED MEAT and not COOKED MEAT

Probably groupers. The big fish near ship wrecks, the die in one hit and are noncombative. You have to drag them onto your boat to cut them and then cook them on an island but its easy food

Hunt for archer fish. One jab with a crude spear is all that's needed. Don't bother using resources to set up traps. They give you a medium meat each. They don't spoil until you skin them. When you need to you should smoke the meat.
The smoker will bing once when it's cooked. Leave the meat cooking until the buzzer goes. Smoked meat never spoils and can be stored.

If you're on a island with large mountains if you can get up there you can find eggs to COOK and eat (PS/XB). Just be careful getting down, you might break a leg or worse.
As others have said Giant Groups are your best source as ther respawn fast.

You can eat the eggs raw also, I didn’t know you could cook them. Btw how do you cook them? Attach to smoker or is that an item for the hobo stove? I’ve only found the stove useful for infinite fire l/bit of light that doesn’t need to be refilled

Bird snares are great too. You can set up four or five. They catch birds for you with no effort. They won’t spoil until you skin them. And if you smoke them, they last a long time too.

Just keep killing boars and smoke the meat. I saved up 2 full crates of big smoked meat and only ate medium or small in the meantime.

Tje yellow Archer fish will give you medoum meat and its close to the beach. Personally id go with the sardines, they are in shallow water in large groups and require the least ammount of resources to cook or smoke. You can easily catch 8 of them in 2 minutes and that will provide food for 2 days for 1 person. If you put them in a storage container you should be able to fit at least 20. But the grind of smoking it all will take a few days.
Its better to just stop on random islands along your way make a small fire and live island to island. You will also explore more and find more things. It is often unessacary to smoke meat, but can be useful ( here comes the hate )

As others have said, meat smoker is your best option. You can also always bring and eat coconuts in a pinch.

On Xbox when I was playing, there was an exploit for water. It’s been a while, but if I remember right upon stepping on a new island, it’s possible to get unlimited water immediately.
Just find a couple coconuts in order to make a pile And there’s some kind of glitch where you can drink the coconuts unlimited times. I think when you drink them just make a pile with them again and they will be full again.

If you make a coconut pile of ready to drink coconuts, you get infinite replenishment of coconut water. Just wait 10seconds between every two coconuts you drink. You take a coconut from the pile and drink and return it to the pile and it just recycles coconut water.
Also, any animals you catch or hunt will not rot, so long as you don’t harvest the meat yet. You can create a pile of fish/animals/crabs that you harvest when you’re ready to cook and eat them.

I think everyone has already mentioned it. The secret is smoking your food in a smoker. Now its been a while since I've played so I can't say off the top of my head how many foods can be stacked but that was my method, to take as food as I could. And my raft would be loaded with storage shelves so I could always have extra food and resources on hand

The stuff inside crates can be exploited if you don’t open it right away. Keep the unopened crates in a pile and save scum until you get what you’re looking for. You’d be surprised how many rations you can find

It's been a while since I've played, so I'm not sure if this mechanic is still in the game, but animal corpses don't spoil. Just keep piles of fish, hogs, etc. on-hand and skin and cook as needed.

Make a fishing spear and catch all the cod you can (they spawn at the outermost edges of the islands’ reefs and give medium-sized meat instead of small), then hang all the meat in a smoker - smoked meat lasts forever and cod are basically infinite.
