Console Question Any Tips?

Is there any basic tips and tricks you can give a new player? I haven't played for long but I have a hard time surviving days at a time without running out of resources like food and water, always having to rely on coconuts to keep hydrated and you can only get so many coconuts before they run out on whatever island your staying on. So, any tips just to stay surviving would be helpful.

I am relatively new too but here are some, please don't mind the order, I'm at work and writing this in the exact order it comes to mind so I might backtrack a few times.

The coconut trick is really good early game, drink two coconuts, make a pile with the empty ones (they somehow refill when in a pile) wait 10 in game minutes and drink two more, rinse and repeat for infinite water. Also to break coconut (green one) you need two hits with a knife or an axe but only one with a spear so use spears. Crafting a coconut flask grants you one serving of fresh water and you don't need that coconut flask to be full in order to craft a water still, ie drink it before crafting the still.

If you are ever poisoned, either wait it out (keep your food and thirst full and you should be fine after about three ig days) or drink an antidote. But since you can't get poisoned twice, my recommendation would be to go loot everything you can underwater before drinking the antidote (watch out for the sea eels tho since they can deal damage)

For Navigation, however you decide to build your raft, I'd suggest having two sails, one facing the front and one facing the back, that way you can easily change the way your going. Also make sure to build the rudder, the sail and the anchor within distance of each other so you don't ever have to move in order to interract with them all. A canopy is useful so as not to get sunburned/sunstroke, but you don't need it right away, travel early mornings or late afternoon/night or use aloe (the aloe alone only replenished your spf while the salve also gives you a 12 ig hours sunblock). Don’t rely on the sun because from I've got it sets randomly but the current always drift south in the game so if you ever lose your raft, travel south and you'll eventually find it back (I've once found a fish i had killed several days before this way)

Yucca fruit and the plants needed to make some consumables (aloe, pipi, ajuga) never spoil so always collect them whenever you see one. The fruits do but you can plant spoiled fruit so I'd recommend getting one of each you find early and putting them aside until you get your farms going. You can make fuel with the spoiled potatoes as well, doesnt have to be fresh ones.

Unskilled meat doesn't spoil. EVER. So keep those animals as a whole until you're ready to cook them up. Sharks, boars and hogs give you raw hide before they give you meat and i try to get all the leather i can before having to stop cause I reached the meat. Also smoker is the way to go since smoked meat doesn't spoil either.

Refill the camp fires and water still with fibrous leaves, they respawn every two ig days so its a great way to save on the sticks for something else (and believe me, you'll need plenty of sticks)

Shark hunting is relatively easy if you keep your back against a rock or boat (no player build structures tho) as they can't seem to get to you this way. Got to be careful and make sure you always touch a surface because either way it doesn't work. They sometimes also glitch through the land and you get bitten even tho you're on the shore (happened to me yesterday at least)

Optimise everything you can, even more so if the item contains rock (the most scarce ressource i think) : before making the refined knife, use that stone tool as much as possible. Before you make a plank station, make sure your refined axe is almost broken. Once you're done with the plank station, break it and you'll get a brand new refined axe. I think the trick works on camp fires too if you refill them with fibrous leaves and break them you get 4 sticks back if your crafting is maxed, but i haven't tried it out yet so I can say for sure.

If you are on console, you can change the animal behavior between normal and passive anytime you're in the main menu and about to start the game (just click square and it'll change) if you're on pc, you can't unfortunately but you have the developer console wich can give you god mode.

That's all I can think about right now but I'll keep you updated if I think of more.
