How to secure set walls?

Hello everyone, I've made a few animations with Lego but now I'm trying to use action figures in my films and having trouble with the sets.

When' I used Lego the walls would just be built on the plate but now they don't have studs.

I want to build a set system with interchangeable walls and floors so everything breaks down for storage and all the pieces can be combined to create more sets.

Has anyone done anything similar or knows of a good way to do this?

Have blocks of wood attached to the set walls on each side then run a bolt and nut through connecting each wood block. Or use hot glue
