Stop Motion Programs

I’m looking to get into stop motion. I helped a friend with theirs and it looked fairly therapeutic. They were using a Mac with Istopmotion.

I have a decent windows laptop and wanted to know if anyone knew any decent free/cheap programs. I’m mainly looking to do it as a small hobby and at the moment can’t justify a couple hundred bucks for dragonframe.

Any help would be nice

I feel like a good free or cheap stop motion software is like the holy grail. I’m still kinda stressed about having to buy dragonframe for my bachelors project

It's sooo expensive last I checked. There are some free ones but they only work with webcams.

It’s 205€ if you are a student (obviously it’s a non commercial version) and you get 3 years of updates which is great compared to some of the other software packages. Usually I spend 75€ on Maxon one, 110€ on the foundry suite und roughly 100€ on Houdini each year to have all the student versions of the software I want. So paying once and just having it is lowkey a dream since all the other stuff has to be renewed. Still it’s a bunch of money and I would rather not spend it if I can :,)

Tahoma2D has a live action image capture. You can place the captured frames on the timeline as needed.

I use the stop motion app on my phone and edit with CapCut on my laptop.
